I was wondering if any body has seen this style of wiper motor before? I picked up a pair this weekend. It was in with a bunch of other parts which appear to be Canadian Surplus.
Appears to have khaki under the paint? I will post better pictures tonight. The attached picture i borrowed from the internet.

Hi Jason. Last week I found a website that showed a variety of different models of vacuum operated wiper motors (from both military and civilian vehicles). There were definitely some models shown with a similar shape to yours. I am traveling at the moment and I cannot remember the exact website, as I was "surfing". I will try to find it later, but you may have luck searching through Google. The info is out there. Trico seems to have been one of the biggest manufacturers, I can't quite read the wording on your picture.

It is a very standard wiper motor used on any of the M-series 2-1/2 tons and 5 tons. In Cdn service the old deuce used them as well as it's replacement the MLVW and of course the 5 ton series (gas and diesel). These are of course air operated as opposed to vacuum operated like the smaller vehicles would have used. The current issue ones are now made of plastic.

Rob. Do the air wiper motors offer a more stable performance over thier vacuum cousins? Engine load can often impact speed of operation of a vacuum motor.

Thanks Rob. I figured it had to be a larger vehicle once i saw they were air operated. There was a large 8 cylinder 24 volt distributor. I wonder if its off the same.
There was lots of little bits and bobs in there too. trying to upload photos but it keeps giving an error about a security certificate. J

Not saying an 8 cylinder waterproof distributor doesn't exist in US service, but I have never seen one in Cdn service. |

Very stable. There was a modification on the MLVW to install separate controls for the left and right wiper, and to vent the expelled air from the wiper to outside the cab. The reason for the venting was so the cab wouldn't have the smell of musty compressed air whilst operating the wipers. Not sure what MLVW Ottawa drives, but I can assure you that anything out this way had plenty of venting in the cabs with no extra modifications.

IN USA junk yards North of Pittsburgh they had US mid 1950 air compressor equipped with Chrysler hemi V8 with full waterproof set up..... most of the engines were removed....guess for what..... with boxes of loose waterproof distributor and waterproof 2 bbl carburators.......
.....also had some small 283 GM V8 with full waterproof kit..... mounted on generators/welders of some sort...... plus rows upon rows of blue forward control air force jeep pickups....... originally had 3 cylinder diesels engines..... all engines had been removed to sell to Amish/Mennonite farms to power dairy farm equipment. .....also had some M37 fire tenders....equipped with mechanical tachometers driven from special waterproof distributor....... ....ah the good old days!!!
