Late last Friday night, I stumbled across a report on an Italian TV station about an auction of impounded goods in Italy. The shots showed huge quantities of cars and motorcycles, but also military vehicles and aircraft. Sorry, no CMPs but it does include interesting stuff like GMC CCKW-353 2.5-ton 6x6 trucks, a Ferret Recce car and four disassembled Dakota aircraft.
Here's the website with pictures http://www.procura.milano.giustizia....sequestro.html. For aircraft see: "Aereo", for military vehicles see: "Mezzo militare" and see: "Mezzo anfibio" for a DUKW. Amazing, eh? H. |

Giacomo told me the auction started last June and ended on October 15. All the thousands of items were offered without starting price, "you buy what you see", with a three day term to get your lots off the premises.

Wow:
Seems like the Borra family were really collectors!!! Did you see all the Porsches in the automobile section along with a lot of other very valuable cars which seem to have been in dry storage. My Italian is not very good but I could not find a reason for the items being seized. Anything on that part of the story?? Bill

They were done for embezellment, forgery of public documents, etc. The Borras were patrons of a radio station, I searched some web pages but they are all in Italian and the automatic translation leaves a lot to be desired, but that is the outline of their fate. Richard |

Thanks Richard:
At least they had the good sense to spend their ill gotten gains on the "right stuff". I am still looking at the lots for sale and that was a hell of a lot of money that came from somewhere, assuming all of what is on those lists belonged to the Borras. I did not do a web search but I will. My Italian is bad but not impossible and maybe I can come up with something. Cheers Bill
