Interesting seeing the 1/2 ton WC Dodge in the film.
https://100years.tmr.qld.gov.au/1940s More reading. https://www.rslsouthqueensland.org/w...ys-and-WW2.pdf The author of the railways article writes "The Beaufort was a product of several railways workshops" ... And ? The Beaufort was also the result of work by many other workshops outside of the railways system. https://adelaideaz.com/articles/sout...facturing-feat "The Beaufort was assembled from parts made by 600 firms, separated by thousands of kilometres, over three states: South Australia (initially allocated 1,800 workers, rising to 2,500), New South Wales (1,000) and Victoria (1,000). The three main manufacturers chosen for the Beaufort work in South Australia were: • South Australian Railway workshops, Islington: producing about 800 centre sections and outer wings. • General Motors-Holden’s, Woodville: producing about 9,590,000 pressed parts supplied as 1,694,000 sub-assemblies and 25,670 main assemblies, together with 910 fuel tanks. • Richards Industries, Mile End and Keswick: 2,500 oil tanks and 168 auxiliary fuel tanks. Other South Australian contractors were: British Tube Mills, Kilburn; Carr Fasteners, Royal Park; Fireproof Tanks, Light Square, Adelaide city; Kelvinator Australia, Keswick; J.A. Lawton & Sons, North Terrace, Adelaide city; Perry Engineering, Mile End. He also writes: "VR had also been appointed the major co-ordinating contractors for the production of Bren and machine gun carriers and they assembled over 4,000 at Newport and outsourced over 1,500 to Islington Railway Workshops in South Australia." What about the other Australian States involvment in M.G. Carrier production ? https://www.defence.gov.au/news-even...litz-back-life The first US military presence in force in Australia arrived in Brisbane Dec.22 1941. https://history.army.mil/books/wwii/...hapterIII.html
