Charging Confusion...

Hi All,

Hopefully someone can offer some advise about the wiring for my cut-out on my generator.

Basically I have the original generator for my carrier, along with a cutout mounted on it as per the original.

There are two wires that come from the generator...one is the field wire and one is the armature wire.

I attach the armature wire to the G location on the cutout.
The field wire I put to ground.

The two wires from the carrier...the red wire in my photo connects to the Ammeter , the blue wire goes to the switch board, terminal "P"

My confusion is...which wire goes where on the cutout?

I can't seem to get the battery charging! Below is a photo of my set up...
