The previously mentioned Mk caerrier still has it's rails around the rear hull area where the resin-impregnated "disposable" ammo boxes were hung by the single metal tab.
I have two of the boxes, one still with the cloth 6-mag carry bag. I am planning to reproduce these, at least enough to kit out Len's carrier. Is there any interest from the list for these coxes for your carrier? Not looking for commitments, just checking the interest. Price?? no clue at this point, but the boxes themselves are pretty simple and would be formed over a wood block template. Can't imagine they will cost much once i get the mold made. Or, does anyone have a source for these boxes in quantity?? Cheers, Jim |

Jim,
I just bought one on eBay and don't want to bang it up while the Carrier is displayed - so I could use a few, perhaps even a half dozen. They also would make great Christmas presents! See you in VA. Stewart |

Are you talking about the canvas impregnated hard boxes..... looks like an overstarched back pack..... has a shoulder strap and some kind of single metal tab at the back?????
It was explained to me that they were called "bail out boxes" for carrying ammo and other supplies whenever there was a necessity to leave the carrier...... ...probably would hold about 6 or 8 bren mags...... Would love to see a picture to confirm.. ...reason is I used one as a kid for a school lunch box....yeah I know I had a big appetite...... but for sentimental reasons I purchased 3 NOS in Montreal (back in 1983) from an old surplus store now defunct... Would love to finally have them correctly identified. At a later date I may choose to trade them in for something more appropriate to my C15a cab 11 ...... what did they sell for on EBay???
