Default Australia votes

Not that I'm particularly partisan about these things, but we go to the polls today and the indications are the current Liberal government (remember Liberal in Australia means conservative,Tory, right-wing) is likely to be replaced by a Labor (yes, that's how they spell it here) government. Although they are similar in many ways and the Labor leader Kevin Rudd can only ape every move the Liberals have made this party is fundamentally similar to what the Canadians rather confusingly call the 'Liberals', ie left-wing socialists.

Since neither of the two major parties have released any policy whatsoever regarding the future preservation, restoration, operation or even recognition of CMPs I fear Australians will just have to vote with their conscience on this one.

I would have voted for whichever party had promised to abolish registration and roadworthiness requirements for these icons of this country, and paid us to display them on our highways and byways. So much for the billions of pork barreling!

Talking Let's form our own party

You know, it only takes 200, or is it 500 signatures/members to form your own party, I can't remember which. That's how One Nation was begun some years ago.
The CMP Party of Australia. Think of all that free government fuel!

I did see a headline during the week "Howard launches Election Blitz", but alas, this was just bait to draw us into the usual list of empty promises typical of any election campaign.

Hoping to see something like this:

The closest to that was Warren Brown's Truck of Truth. We know Warren as a MV collector and participant on the Beijing to Paris trip.

If the Pollies had a similar vehicle, it would have been called the Blitz of Lies.

Keith:

I've been trying to follow whatever news our Canadian press picks up about your election.

From what's been reported here, Howard stands to fall on the environment issue.

Too bad...IIRC he's been your PM for 11 years and has held his own seat for 34 years...so now he'll probably get shot down by by whimpering, hand-wringing, politically correct lefties on an issue which no human being can have any control over.

Maybe our PM has a bit of the smarts in not going along with the environmental issues which were just discussed in, where?, Uganda?
