Point taken, byer beware, but I did check out the feedback and there were repeat byers for taps and no tap or dies mentioned in the negative.

RDG Tools
These people also have a website selling heaps of tools. We bought some lefthand taps for a carrier rebuild through their website but I don't think we've used them yet so I can't comment on quality. They seemed to communicate fine with queries I had. The prices seem cheap but postage is hefty in my experience. I want to buy a morse adapter that doesn't have the tang on the end but the postage killed the idea. Anyway check their website before bidding on eBay - might be cheaper!
I have no ties with the vendor. Regards Alex Last edited by cantankrs; 28-11-09 at 06:00. Reason: Added |

Thanks everyone for the assistance.
Strange how some months ago we were checking Ebay for quite a while and came up empty ended..... now we are stocked up....
Happy to report that Santa will be dropping by the barn with a full set if taps, dies, rh,lh for both the rims and wheel nuts. Last set of "quality" dies purchased in a local distributor in Ottawa was $35 for a 3/8 pipe thread and $45 for the 1/2 inch....... so the asking price even with shipping is quite competitive in my view. I realize that some may be used or quality may be questionable but when one considers that most of our use will be for cleaning threads rather than cutting from raw stock.... they should last our life time. Heck we have been using Princess Auto dies and taps for years and they seem to function well for us..... besides they will exchange anythnig that breaks anyways. So again I thank you all "eagle eyes" who have spotted what we needed. POINT OF INTEREST..... the 7/8 rim bolts are BSF and not BWF...... the 11 t.p.i. is only applicable to the BSF. On the 5- 8 rim bolts the standard RH UNF dies taps will work perfectly. will let you know more when we get them in our cold little hands. Boob

Thanks to the jolly man in the red suit
When I catch up with Santa (perhaps NORAD will give me a tip this year) I'll have to say thank you. If there are any doubts about the taps & dies he brings (and even if there aren't doubts) we should all remember to use lots of lubricant while working to wash away any cuttings and or cleaned material, rust is very abrasive. My knuckles tell me so every time they rub on the rusty old trucks.
