T-16 fuel switch
Mike,
Sorry I didn"t read the whole message before I sent my last reply. The fuel switch on the dash simply tells the fuel gauge which tank you are running on. You have to switch the tanks manually at the fuel filter. There are lines going from both fuel tanks to the fuel filter, with each one controlled by a valve. Then a line goes from the fuel filter to the fuel pump. Thanks Rod Shaver

Hi Rod,
Thanks for your reply.... I will pass on the info to my friend, can I take it that you are an expert on the T16, for instance if we have a particular question on the vehicle we could ask you the question direct. mike |

T-16 parts
Mike,
Yeah right!! I am an expert!! I guess anyone who restores a vehicle these days consider themselves so called experts. Anyway, I can try and answer any questions you might have about the T-16. My direct e-mail address is deleted by Moderator Thanks Rod Rod, don't list your email directly, as the spammers can pick it up. Anyone can email you through the system by clicking on your Profile button, and that's safer.

Thanks Rod,
What I meant to say was that it looked like you had more experience on the T16 than we have.... between my friend and me we have several jeeps, a GMC, a couple of dodge 6x6, dodge command car, dodge ambulance but no t16 experience. mike |

T-16 info
Mike,
I guess I know more about T-16"s than most people, but only because most people don"t own a T-16. I have been working on mine for about 3 years, and I still have a lot to learn. The manuals for the T-16 are horrible. I guess because this vehicle was being made for use by the commonwealth forces, the US government didin"t think it was necessary to spend a lot of money on manuals. Anyway, I have studied several T-16"s around the world, so I can probably answer most of your questions about them Thanks Rod

Hey Rod
Here's another dumb question then... were T-16s issued W/D numbers at the factory as were our Universals? On our carriers, the CTXXXXXX number was stamped into the top of the armour plate in front of the driver's position - permanently assigned from the time of manufacture onwards. The same with T-16s, or were those numbers assigned on receipt at the depot level, as per our trucks?
Just curious...

T-16 registration numbers
Geoff,
My T-16 has a serial number 6974 and the only registration number I can find on it is TD 98990. I guess it is possible it came from the factory with a US registration number and was completely removed. I also have a factory photo of a T-16 with a British registration number of TD 94860. Why would the US government bother to put a registration number on a vehicle that won"t be used by US forces? I have never seen a T-16 with a registration number stamped on the body anywhere. They do have the serial number stamped in several locations however. Thanks Rod Shaver
