That old subject.....
Now that the UK has gone back to GMT this weekend, I notice that MLU is 2 hours ahead on a GMT of its own, very confusing when looking at the time of messages.
Perhaps I have it wrong and it does not stand for Greenwich Mean Time........but in fact it is Geoff's Maple Time? Richard ( standing by for flak from Mr. Withered Balls ) |

THERE'S the pot talkin' to the kettle.
I put out claymores and pungi pits to kep the kids away this eve, and it obviously worked. Don't need no steenkin sweets, gots three cats, a satellite TV connection and DSL. Oh yeah, and a fridge full of beer. Screw you too, Old Guy! Pee Ess: Happy B-Day to Mrs Notton; why she continues to appreciate you, Mr. Notton, is a mystery to all of us, but that she does elevates her to sainthood at the very least. Our kind regards to both of you! Quote:

Pungi pits?
I know what a Claymore is, but what's a pungi pit?
Conjures up images of a pit full of sharpened stakes, doesn't it! Anyway, you'll have to check 'em at first light.

Pungi Pit
Hi Keefy and others
No wonder you are confused as our time-warped Winballton can't even spell correctly. PANJI PIT. Basically a hole in the ground with sharpened bamboo stakes facing up to penetrate the feet of people becoming trapped in them. A clever method of inflicting injury that required the logistics of more personnel to remove the wounded as opposed to removing the dead. Bob |

1. Pricking, piercing, sharp-pointed [1601]; 2. Sharp, keen, acute, poignant; causing or inflicting sharp pain; keenly distressing [1597]. The word comes from the Latin pungere. Americans in Viet Nam commonly called them punji sticks or punji pits but I chose the English derivation of the word.

I have moved the Shirrell Heath Sigs Office from "GMT -1 Azores, Cape Verde Islands" to "GMT -2 Mid Atlantic" this has the desired effect on the displayed numbers. As keeper of MLU surely its your duty to get the Yanks correctly on-time, I'm minded though they were a couple of years late for WWII also so you may well have a bit of a struggle. On the word of command, double away and get it sorted. DETAIL. . . . . .Brace up, brace up, stop wavin' about like a field of corn. TIME CORRECTION. . . . . . . . . GO. R. |
