Permits
Hi Brad,
If you sell it outside of Canada, even to the US, make sure that you get an Export Permit from the Dept of Foreign Affairs. Call 613-996-2387. Good luck. Wish I had the dinero to stick this in my basement.

Mortar Comp
Hey Brad,
Advanced Guard Militaria has listed a demilled (to USA Specs) 81mm mortar which has some accessories. Your British 3" Mortar would be worth a lot more in the USA than the 81mm Mortar in my opinion due to them being very scarce here in the States. Basic demill on the 2" and 3" mortars is a hole drilled in the side of the tube approximately the same diameter as the bore. The firing pin is removed and that location gets welded up a bit. The hole in the side is normally done near the bottom so the tube can be stick welded internally which prevents it from being taken apart and prevent a new firing pin from being installed. Lastly they normally weld a bar or rod inside the tube to prevent a round from being dropped all the way down. Really overkill but then they require MG receivers to be torch cut in three places. At least a demilled mortar can still be stood up and displayed. Info on thier 81mm is below: A337 - WWII 81mm Mortar With Accoutrements & Inert Ammunition 81mm Mortar, M1 has barrel retaining 60% olive drab painted finish, deactivated to US BATF specifications. Mortar is complete with rectangular base plate retaining 80% olive drab finish, bipod retaining 50% olive drab finish, leather muzzle cap with khaki web carrying strap, metal tube cleaning staff with spring-loaded brush attachment, and M4 adjustable sight that fits on to the mortise on the bipod's mortar yoke. Sight includes the leather carrying case that has wear and loose stitching. The bipod and base plate have both had their data plates removed. The mortar tube is deactivated to ATF specs with the firing pin removed, welded cascable, an obstruction welded into the barrel, and a hole cut in the side equivalent to the diameter of the muzzle. It seems very strange that European laws about deactivated weapons make a lot more sense than they do here, but that's just the way it is. The fellows who cut the hole in the barrel made a metal plug that you can fix in place with auto body filler, then paint to blend with the rest of the tube for display. Just make sure to save photos of the open hole to have on hand should any law enforcement official need to be assured that it is properly deactivated. We also include an inert 81mm HE round. The obstruction in the barrel is in just the right spot to where you can display the round sitting half in and half out of the barrel. We will ship to addresses in the Continental US under our 'standard' rate, will be extra for Alaska & Hawaii. Nice condition and a rather complete set! II $1,950.00 |
