Default Is it at my end or has MLU been of line a lot recently

Hi All

I suspect the problem may be at my end (local dsl provider is in financial problems) or has MLU been going on and off line a lot lately? Example has it been down for several hours today?

Cheers Phil

Phil,

Not as far as I know. I'm set up to receive error messages whenever the Forum goes down, and I've had none for several days. Having said that, I WAS out for several hours this morning, but Sally was here and she noticed no trouble either, in either email reception or the Forum itself.

Keep me posted, though...

Jif

G'day Geoff

Now that i'm a member of this site, i try to access it a lot more often. I don't know if it's a problem at my end or not, but it seems that the only time i can access the site is at night (over here). If i try in the morning or during the day, the page is not to be found, no matter how many times i refresh it.

I wonder if that's a peak time for action on the forums here?

Cheers
Toby

Toby, try http://orbit.dnsrouter.com/~mlu/forums/ for easier access. Something's screwed up with either the MAPLELEAFUP.ORG domain name or the domain server itself at odd times. I'm working to resolve the situation, but it's like herding cats...

Default And the...

...toe bone's connected to the foot bone and the foot bone's connected to the shin bone...

All sounds like double dutch to me.

Incidentally I now have to log in each time... haven't changed any settings this end... strange.

Thanks for chasing things through, Jif.

Exclamation MLU Forum Backdoor

Speaking of which, there IS a backdoor into the forum you may use when you get one of these errors. The URL is:

http://tortuga.dnsrouter.com/~mlu/forums

Bookmark it as a secondary access to be used when required; it makes you login again, but what the hell.

Col things are fine. Just a bit tired lately as I try and do too much. Must be the stubbon/pigheadedness I inherited from my folks.

Ma Yappy I am suitably humbled but never (a)shamed!

But honestly I am having no probs with getting in. Mind you this is a complete new computer setup so I wonder if it may improve for some of you if you dump the cookies from your machines and start again?

Cheers

Something HAS been going on, since sometime very early this morning (my time), perhaps after about 0900Z. My email was buggered as well. I've wasted half the bloody day trying to dig deep in this, but can't find a damned thing! I suspect perhaps a concentrated denial-of-service attack on one of the other clients on this server. In any case, it's blown a day I had earlier anticipated actually doing something constructive with. out:

In any case, everything seems to have settled now. In future, you can and should use either

gwball _at_ sympatico.ca

or

corowa30 _at_ sympatico.ca

or

jif _at_ corowa30.org

...or preferably all three (that way I can trace routings), to contact me if things go wonky again. Copy sunray _at_ mapleleafup.org in any case.... and you KNOW what to do with the " _at_ " business, I trust.

Thanks,

Jif

...whatever did I do to deserve this?! In my next life I'm going to come back as a cow, methinks (although perhaps not an Australian one ). Or better still, a moggie; that'll shut 'em up! I can eat all sorts of disgusting stuff then upchuck all over everything nice they have... and shed to-boot! That'll fix 'em...

Mate you would be like me and be unlucky enough to come back as a mangy alley cat rather then a pampered pet

Geez, Cliff... it just so happens I am already! At least that's how I'm inevitably instructed by all the good women I approach [sniff] ...just no accounting for taste these days! I mean, who in their right mind would dismiss rugged good looks, an impressive vocabulary of obscenities and a take-no-prisoners attitude out of hand??!! Certainly no one I would want to hang around with...

Default Outages?

I have no idea how the ones and noughts wend their way to and from your server Geoff, but it is wholly fast and reliable here and has been all this year as best as I can remember. As I can't recall any frustrations we can assume it just works.

If you want to know the routing you'll have to tell me how to resolve it; me, I just click my MLU favourites link and it appears in probably 100mS.

R.

Default Sporadic connection to MLU

Jefe, I've been experiencing the same problem as described by others. Connection to MLU has been sporadic at best for the better part of two weeks now. I'll make 7-8 attempts over the course of several hours before I can finally connect. It makes no difference if I use a link, a web search, or your internet address saved in my favourites. In the future I'll email you when it happens to see if that provides any insight into whats going on for you.

What access were you using, Rick? The MLU one or Tortuga? Always try the latter if the former doesn't work...
