power converter.
Here is my Metalic CPP-2 power converter on the floor under the temporary wireless table .
It converts 120 to 12/24 Volts for the 19 Set. Bruce Parker has a nice post on this piece of kit on his week 45 chronicle. Thanks Bruce and Happy New Year !.

Power outlet or telephone connexion - a mystery ?
Friends , this is my last post of the year and i would like to solve a mystery that's been bugging me for too long.
What are these connexions for please ? Picture on the left is outside the left side of the box. Picture on the right is inside the box below the telephone operator / cipher clerk position table . Any definite answer out there with pictures and a reference please ? 12 V power outlet for the Wireless 19 or telephone connection for field phones ? Let's resolve this before year end please !

They're far too heavy-duty to be telephone. They look very much like the studs/nuts and insulator on the Batten, Terminal, 4-Way, and the fact that they have wing nuts on both sides make it an "optional" feed-through, probably for power to the Penthouse when that's set up.
When using the penthouse, run a pair of suitable cables from the charging switchboard No.4 to the terminals on the inside, then connect penthouse lighting and/or another wireless set, etc. to the terminals on the outside. (I'd expect the external cover to have a layer of insulation attached to the inside of the lid - it would be rather exciting if it came into contact with the terminals when the battery was connected.) I think you are right on and the connexions are for DC to power the wireless sets installed outside.. I misspoke when i said it would be my last question for the year. I have been using the spare parts box in the picture over the last year to store ... my spare parts for the No 19 in the wire 5 truck. Last question of the year, promise : What is a No 33 set anyway and what was it used for ?

Wireless Set No.33 was a "High Power" set intended for medium range communications. The original numbering system (introduced around 1929) was: No.1 - Brigade/Battalion, Artillery Brigade, short range No.2 - Division/Brigade, short range No.3 - Corps/Division, medium range No.4 - GHQ/Corps, medium/long range No.5 - Base/GHQ long range No.6 - Army Chain (worldwide) - three built: Aldershot, Gibraltar & Hong Kong This removed (most of) the confusion with earlier sets where modifications were denoted by "Marks" or "stars" and set types by letters (A, B, C) or power (input) rating (500 watt set). In the late 1930s, a preceding digit was added to allow for new versions of the same type (role) of set, and new sets added: No.7 - Interim AFV set No.8 - Infantry Battalion Manpack set No.9 - AFV set No.14 - local control for AFVs (replacing flags and signal lamps) No.16 - Jamming set. Excluding the oddity of WS.13 (an experimental VHF manpack that got no further than trials), and the reallocation of some numbers during WW2, the WS33 traces its history back to the original vehicle mounted WS.3 of 1934, the later WS.23 (1940), WS.33 (1941) - similar to the WS12 but higher power, WS.43 (Canadian) - a redesign of the WS.12HP, WS.53 - the British redesign of the WS.12HP (renumbered because of the Canadian WS.43). Yes, it gets complicated! Reaching back into my memory banks, I recall a 33 set which had an RCAF symbol on it
It was huge, heavy and at one time was mounted in our GMC "house" type 2 1/2T vehicle c.early '60s. IIRC, it was also referred to as the Maple Leaf Set. Could be wrong about that...memory fades.

Wireless table at last !

Here are the results for the wireless table. Thanks again to David Good for the measurements. Now i am looking for the attachments / hardware to affix the No 19 set to the table with a quick disconnect feature so the whole board can be slipped out of the box easily.. Any source for that hardware anyone please ?

Here is a picture of pretty much the final setup for the wireless table. Added a picture of General Crerar i have found in a nice store on Government St. in Victoria BC. last week. Next task, the electrical / battery / charging control panel and making the generators supply 12 V current to the batteries.

CMP seats hold down
Question:
How are the two standard CMP seats held down on the special bracket that's bolted to the floor of the box ? Are the seats still adjustable back and forth ? Thanks for posting pictures if you have them.

Seat brackets
Hi,
I had a seat bracket duplicated recently. The original came from a fine gentleman in Edmonton , Reg Hodgson with the help of my other friend David Good. Primed and painted . Drilled the plywood floor after locating the original holes in the steel floor. Installed some bolts and nuts and voilà ! The question remains : How do i install the seat on the bracket ? All i need now is another CMP seat to complete the seating in the box.

Mud flaps - as per original design
I have been researching the issue of the Jerry can holders and the mudflaps for a while now .
The definite answer came from the picture posted a few months ago by Rob Love of Shilo. The 2K1 body Wireless 5 van came with two Jerry can holders, one on each side and the mudflaps were bolted on the face of the holder behind the tires . It is only about half the size of a regular CMP mudflap because the Jerry can holder is quite large and acts as a mud flap already. Here are a few views of my installation. To the best of my knowledge it conforms to original. I have to work on my convoy , brake and position lights now. In the holders , i have two original wartime British 5 Gal Jerry-cans. In the text description of the 2K1 body we read that on the left side , there is a 1 Gal oil can support or holder in front of the 5 Gal Jerry can holder. I have yet to see a picture of that . Anyone can help ? I found an original 1944 dated RCA Victor military speaker box recently. Re-wired it plugged it to a hidden modern multi-media player . It sounds great with the original carbon-magnet speaker. You see it on the generator door . I installed it there for now. Entertaining when working on the truck. In the rear , we see the neatly stored original thanks to Reg Hodgson two step ladder in the rails under the floor . We also see the towing attachment. The modern position, running and turn lights are there in an effort to stay alive on the modern fast traveled roads of today.

I believe the holder on the truck here in Silo has the 1 gallon portion. I think I also had it on my KL years back, although those brackets originally came off a van body if I recall.

I've got an orginal 1gal holder that was on my Wire-3 box. I'll post up some pictures and measurements tomorrow. It would be very easy to fabricate.
