Default That has to be a classic photo

Hi Peter

The parts hanging on the cloths line has got to be an all time classic. With the parts hanging next to the regular car ready to paint a close second. Now if you had already painted the parts and the regular car was covered in over spray that would put it in a real 1st prize winning category.

All of us who have restored vehicles in the yard or family garage can appreciate the effort and ingenuity. Keep up the good work with effort you are putting in getting down to bare metal and prep the end result should be equally impressive.

Cheers Phil

Default 61879

Found these markings on the Blitz. 61879. Left and right sides, running vertical on top panel, next to engine hood. Found an old picture of Military 4WD Test with number 61824 with numbers in the same location. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to track how the truck would have been used? More on it's Military group. Thanks.

Hi again Peter. It's tantalising when you find one with a close ARN. The WW2 pic was taken at Monegeeta near Melbourne.

You will be able to look it up at the Australian War Memorial in the AWM 126 series of ledgers but this will be unlikely to tell you more than the very basic details of original body type, tyre size and perhaps when and to whom it was disposed of. They don't have any details of it's actual unit use.

Default HEAD Challenge

Well... rebuilding the engine and gear box. Fixed a broken holding bolt for the gear box, put a small kit thru it and that is all looking fine but just discovered that my Head has 4 cracks in it ! One of them is big. Hesitate to have fixed. Think that I need to locate a replacement second hand head. Would even put a new one on if I could ever locate. Any suggestions / ideas on where I could get one would truly be appreciated Thanks, Peter (Taree - Mid North Coast, NSW)
