Hi Hanno,
Great pictures, neither I knew about foxes in Holland, you'll always see those humber mk4 on liberation pics etc. We are busy to recreate a picture like those Hanno, we aren't far from driving to the parades in it's fresh paint!!! Where will you be with your F15A? Probably Apeldoorn as well? regards, Stefan |

The Hague, 8 May 45 - they are possibly from the 4th Reconnaissance Regiment (4th Princess Louise Dragoon Guards), C.A.C. (1st Cdn Inf Div - Recce Regt). On the 8th, 3rd Canadian Infantry Brigade (R22eR; CYR; WNSR) entered The Hague, along with other elements of the 1st Cdn Inf Div. Cheers

Hi Mark
What a funny coincidence for the 4th, to have lost their Foxes in Italy and then to use them again in Holland almost a year later! |

It belongs to the British 49th Reconnaissance Regiment (49th (West Riding) Infantry Division), which is interesting, because according to their history, they were not in The Hague on 8 May, 45, their Squadrons being elsewhere. I'll dig out their locations for 8 May and post them. Cheers

Field Security Section
I am a bit late replying but I may have a bit more info to add re the Fox(es) in the Hague in May 1945(The thread images are broken links now but the image numbers may still be searched in that database, and there are a couple other fox photos there!)
One of the images show a pair of motorcycles strapped to the Fox's engine deck. The AOS is visible on one of the bikes as 86 on a dark background. That would likely associate the bikes (and possibly the Fox...) as belonging to a Field Security Section (Mobile). An Armoured vehicle would not ordinarily be part of their kit but given their Intelligence/Security mop up role it would not necessarily have gone astray... also the previously mentioned 141 report does associate the Fox with future internal security work. Of course these could still be unmarked recce regiment (Were the PLDG returned from an Infantry Role to their original Recce role after leaving Italy? ) Foxes, one of which is merely carrying some FSS(M) bikes. I'd post image links but as of tonight the dutch website is down for maintenance. cheers Mark |

Quiz time!!
Now, the question is: how many different Foxes do you see in the photos taken in The Hague?
Was it a single one, or were there multiples present?
