Robert
The T214 engines were built from 1942 until 1945.

Been following this restoration since the thread started, and , as a fellow Dodge owner, it's looking like it's going to be a nice vehicle when finished. Another web-site which could be very helpful, is the ww2 Dodge Site. Lots of useful info and a good forum. For spares, as Bob suggested Vintage Power Wagons are good, and Midwest Military in America are also well into WC spares

I finally got back to Kevin's with a camera the engine is in and he has driven around the paddock. Now he is waiting for body parts to come back from the restorer.

The dodge is in Wagga at the moment having the body parts test fitted before painting then it will come home for final assembly.
A new toy arrived this week and it may end up a command car. Kevin has some rims he would like identified.

I still havent got a positive ID on the above rim, 8 wheel studs and 16 bolts to hold the rim together. Thank you.

Is the tyre a 900-16 runflat, marked RF ? Looks like it could be a Ferret wheel if so.

Boy you breed Ferrets large down there Robert if they need wheels that size to get around Oh by the way how does something that big get down the rabbit hole?

Mystery rims
Hi Robert are those rims 16" or 18"?
|

|
||||
18's??
I was wondering that to Graeme. I thought if they were 18's, then that rim may be off a "lend lease" Ford.
Apparently they had a split rim (refered to as a 'Desert rim') that was much heavier in design, of similar robustness to a 16" or 20" Blitz rim.

Hi Graeme and Tony the rims are 16" Kevin was trying to get a tire off one to put on the dodge he ended up using a spare for his toyota. The next time I go past we will see if my bead breaker will move the rim.
Kevin has 5 rims and they are on the market I'll get photos on Friday. Ross told him the British tyres would be too loose on the dodge rims.

If as I suspect, they are Ferret wheels, then there should be a runflat bead spacer fitted, which will mean you will not be able to push the beads away from the rim very easily. We used to have a large machine with a rising platform that centred on the hole in the rim and three or four arms which you could control to push down on the bead, then slip under the rim forcing it up away from the tyre. Are the rims alloy?

rims
Looks like a ferret rim to me .. be carefull as the light alloy rim metal tends to bend easily if you exert too much force during tyre removal

Mike you will be welcome any time. Kevin is busy tidying up and organizeing his vehicles at the moment because the next GAMC meeting is at his place. After that he is hopping in a truck and heading north to pick up another GMC.

Canvas ?
What is Kevin doing for canvas ? I always liked the look of the short Winter tops on those 3/4 ton Dodges . There was a canvas kit issued that covered only the drivers area , it had canvas doors , known as the Winter top . I think it was late WW2 era . I spotted one on EPAY years ago , a NOS kit . Rather rare I would think .
This is what Im on about http://stampedout.net/odds-003-dodge_top.html Mike
