You are correct in saying that there is not much pictorial evidence of the trailers especially the twin Axle 'CMP' type. I do have a reasonable amount on the single Axle semi due to my research into the early years of the North/South Military Highway.

Here is another twin Axle photo from the AWM

Default Blitz Semi trailer

Hi Cliff,
Oh how I wish mine was in the same condition! I note that the trailer/truck are painted in what looks to be a gloss paint or at athe least a semi-gloss?. Does anyone know which shade of green it is?. Note also how there's no rearward brace on the head board of the trailer unlike other models of this trailer. There is also an under body storage box. Mine has no evidence of such box but also has no rearward brace .
Could you tell me what the rack that is on the blitz to the rear of the fuel tank is for? It looks like its for fuel/oil cans. Thanks for the picture. These photo's certainly show alot of detail and also raise a lot of questions.
Regards,

Brett the holder is for POL cans. Paint would have been Post 1942 Australian Service Green.

Default Jail bar or not to Jailbar

G'day Keith,

Would you or Cliff have any photos of the front view of the 1940 nice looking Ford? I have to agree with you that the Jailbar looked a bit off. The styling of the pre-jailbar from the view shown with the trailer looks pretty decent .... for a Ford. that is... tee hee

Kind Regards

G'day All,

Here are some of the trailer photos I found from the AWM one of them is a semi.

The reason I was looking is since I found a supplier for my missing drawbar I thought there was not much point having a hitching point and not actually tow something with it.

Are there still trailers available or are they pretty much extinct?

Is it possible to get plans for them to make a reproduction from?

From the photos I have found the four wheeled trailers were the most common used for Chevy's like mine.

If any one wanted photographs of Jeep Trailers it seems the AWM has more of these than anything else - I got sick of seeing the words "Jeep Trailer"

The semi is a Dodge D series and the trailer a normal single axle semi trailer.

Here's the 1941 Ford equivilent to your Chev.

Hello Cliff,

What year would the Dodge D series be?

Thanks very much for the photo of the Ford it does look like a pretty decent truck.

In the last message I asked if there would still be trailers around or plans for them available. What do you think of the likeihood of finding a trailer and if they are not around who would you contact to try and see if plans are available?

Was I right in thinking that the trailer most likely towed by my truck would have been a four wheeled one like in the photo of the 41-46 Chevy?

Kind Regards
Lionel

G'day Cliff,

I just had another look at the Ford and noticed that it was one of the best photos I have seen since searching for months about what the tarps looked like. Thank you very much for posting the photo. Would the rectangles in the sides be "windows" that would have rolled up to let air in and people to see out?

Kind Regards
Lionel

Lionel that is not a normal tarp. The rear body may be set up as an office or machinery shop as it appears there is a lift out flap in the middle as well as the windows. Normal G/S looks the same without those window or door flaps.

The D Series Dodge was approximately 1941 to 1945/6 powered with a 6 cly flathead Chrysler motor and most of the Aussie assembled one's had an Eaton two speed Diff fitted and came with both single and dual rear wheel models. The semi's and tippers were often SWB and the 3 tonner was the equivilent to your Chev and the Ford in the photo. Some Cowl/chassis units were made into the Indian Pattern Ambulances as well.
