Nice picture of another T212 in North Africa. It was printed in the book MERCY in HELL - An American Ambulance Driver with the Eighth Army by Andrew Geer, Captain, American Field Service, and is captioned: "Our" Day in a Mine Field (Captain Geer in Foreground, Nettleton Leaning against Ambulance, Lieutenant Ives with Arms Akimbo).

A 1323534 to A 1303769

A 1303803 to A 1323600 related to 'GIFTS OF VARIOUS AMBULANCES'

including # A 1323587 1941, Dodge (USA) T116-WD21
operated by British American Ambulance Corps

and this could have covered these 4 x 4 Dodges however although the Census Numbers are not known, Contract SM 2129 related to AMBULANCE 4 X 4 4-STRETCHER 123” w.b. supplied under US contract W-398-QM-DA-28, 250 were built. 1941 Model WC-27, Chrysler T215-WC-27.

This is one of the 2500 Dodge D8A 'TRUCK 8-CWT. 4 X 4 PERSONNEL' shipped to Egypt, to Demand S/M 2029, Model T212.

The C60L on the site could be to one of two batches sent to Egypt in 1942.

It's worth reading the account - here's where he first meets his ambulance:

"In the British Army the signing over of a vehicle to a driver is a major operation. A platoon officer does not call a man to him and say, "Hey, Bill, see that ambulance over there, the one numbered WD 1330337? Well, it's yours. Take it over." No. There is a definite form. The machine (in fact, every vehicle in the British Army) is equipped with a "412" book. This is the record, the bible, the diary of that vehicle. It tells all. What tools equipped the machine when taken over and every gallon of gas and drop of oil fed to it must be entered. Every grease job and repair job has a neatly ruled sheet awaiting entries. It takes about an hour properly to assign a vehicle to a driver."

Ah yes, you noted S/M 2029 in the thread Dodge D8A T212 info needed, but it´s nice to know there were no less than 2500 of them!

Hanno, I think that pic might be a row of 3 Dodge WC27 ambulances? They all appear to have the same marking on the left side of the roof above the windscreen and I can't see a cab roof/ canvas combo on the 3rd veh, looks like a full length roof like the other 2.

Rediscovering this post again, I had a close look at some of the previous pics. The D8A has 6 stud hubs/wheels. Could these be the same as C8 HUP and C8AX?

At first glance, it looked like the third was was different from the half-ton ambulances in front of it. On closer inspection, I found it to be the same as the other two. If anything, this thread is "BTT" again.

As I understand it, they were indeed the same wheels.

The "truck" is of course a Dodge D8A/T212 8-cwt 4x4 truck.
