Lars, I have some photos of K2Y ambulances that Pearsons apparently rebuilt post-war.

I must be losing my mind. Hurricanes/Tropical storms I guess will do that.
The Photo of the 39 Chev should be attributed to Christer R from the Historisk Samlarforum in Sweden. The 38 Chev photo is from the book "Fran Larmklocka till Blaljus" also Swedish. Loose translation of the book title is "From Emergency Bells to Blue Lights". The emergency bell reference is to the hand rung brass bells emergency vehicles used way back when, the blue light reference is obvious. I promise to behave better, at least most of the time. Bill

There is another suggestion that the Tipper above that looks like a C30 is in fact a converted CGT! The body was evidently produced from parts of other CMPs. The one big problem with the former is that the chassis is..ahem! 134"!!! However we know that CMPs rebuilt by GM Limited, Southampton had their fuel tanks opened out and refurbished before being refitted to refurb'd chassis. That is how the Fuel Tank guy came to have a huge collection of petrol lighters! Yes, squaddies dipping their lighters into the tanks on string/rope/shoelaces dropped them in and Mr FT retrieved them when he split open the tanks and then soldered them up afterwards. His collection was kept on his mantlepiece!

This is unusual I guess but maybe not a CMP but I have made so many mistakes today I shall continue. Western Desert, pic courtesy of the AWM

Well, one more while I am here. I found this file when resetting stuff in cellar after the flood. 1937 Chev chassis/cowl at the docks in Finland ready for transport to one of a series of coachwork companies for bodying.
From Svensk MotorTidning. Bill

The ex-French diverted 1941 YR trucks assembled in Flint Plant were listed as 'Houlder Thornton' conversions. I assume Houlder were a contractor to GM.

David:
Obviously, the many hours spent puttzing around in the cellar trying to get things cleaned up have addled my brain badly. The addie is clearly a Fabco Dual Drive Conversion, not a Thornton although they were probably pretty similar. Somewhere, I have some files or books or something on both and will try to find them.
