My rear rings are still there, I'm pretty sure it's the top half of the front rings- now I am wondering where the steel came from for the bracket. It looks kind of like a rear tow bracket mount. (?) I'll post a better picture on here so you guys can hopefully ID after I cut them off tomorrow. That way if it's off the carrier I can restore it to it's non goofy position.

Thanks,
Mike

Default Need to see someone's Carrier, plz!

Hi!

I am hoing to find someone that will let me take armor measurements from their carrier. My Canadian MkI was sliced and diced and I want to restore the armor plates to the exact correct measurements. One anywhere in the US would be easiest for me to get to, but a Canadian one would be fine if I can't find one here.

Thanks!
Mike

HI Mike

Im in the same boat.

If someone already has a set made up I would be interested in them too.

If not, I am going to try and get a Mk1 measured up in the next few weeks. It jsut been a matter of conflicting scheduals. Im putting all my stuff on auto cad so if you want I can send you a set of plans when they are done.

Jordan

You guys want to arrange to see Bruce Parker, SW of London, ON. For the price of beer, he'll fix you up...

Murray Calder, ex MP, House of Commons lives in my area.
He scratch built the armour for his MK1 about two years ago from measurements he had taken.
I can put those in touch with him via a PM to me.
That other fella up in Barrie ON was also doing repro armour from drawings already on CAD, Rob Grieves I think.

Geoff,

I don't know if these guys want to make the huge investment in beer that might be required to get the measurements from that Bruce guy ....

Default Measure Mine!! Measure Mine!!

With all this measure mine talk, some surfer might report this forum to the porn police.

Sheesh.

And as to that cheap shot, Messr. Loy, I can only say that investment, large as it must inevitably be, well, well.... it'll have to be large.

So there.

Default Thanks

Thanks to everyone so far for offers to mearsure. I am hoping to find one in the US as I get free airfare here and I'm not sure who I can fly on to Canada. I certainly am looking forward to grabbing a bunch of digital pics and measurements to get mine looking the way it should.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,

I am sure that you can only fly on Air Canada or WestJet - as all of the other carriers have gone belly up.

If you even get to VA there was a Carrier ( or 3 ) at Alan Coors place that was in great condition. I think he has one of everything.

Nah, all the US carriers fly into Toronto. Might be quicker & cheaper for him to fly to Detroit though, and rent a car for the trek up the highway to Carrier Country.

Hell, wait till spring and drive from Indianapolis! Take you less than a day...

BTW, Cors' carrier IS magnificent, but it's a Mk.II*, IIRC. Bruce can confirm.

Geoff,

You are correct!

I was reviewing some old pix, and mistook Jim Burril's MkI for the Coor's machine.

The only similarity was they were all in Virginia on display.

Some in Virginia, huh? That's where I'm originally from and I'd like to see 'em too. Where are they?

Thanks,
Mike

Alan Coors has a private collection that he allows open to invited guests once a year. He is very near Manassas. He is a fine fellow and his staff is top notch.

Our pal Parry Kitson ( not Charlie Fitton ) contacted him last time for the invite - Perry are you out there?

Got the measurements, if anyone needs a specific plate size or two I will be glad to help (but not the entire vehicle of course).

Thanks John!
