Unfortunately, Bill passed away almost 2 years ago. He was a man of class and is missed in our organization.
I was never sure why his passion was so strong for the Burma Buggy, as he took apart a very viable HUP project in order to make it. But I guess each of us has his own quirks of passion, and it could have been something as simple as a photograph on this forum. |

I did not know and I am sorry to hear that. I now see he was last active on here in October 2009 and have deactivated his account. Glad to hear he was able to finish his HUP project. Edited to add a link to a thread dedicated to Bill's "Burma Buggy": http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=30710 Regards, Hanno

Having had a closer look I think you are right. The curved roof edges seem to be made of curved sheet metal (see survivor), the top must have been open covered by canvas. H.

I think the marking on the bumper reads "RAF POLICE".

Two more pics, these are in use with Dutch troops in Indonesia. They took over vehicles and other equipment from British and Indian Army troops which first occupied Indonesia in 1945 after the Japanese surrender. The Dutch first had to muster troops to take occupation duties over from them, which they did from 1946 onwards.

Hi Alan
Wonder what the story is behind the lady and the leopard? This week the was quite a lot of coverage on TV of a leopard climbing on the roof of a safari vehicle in a game preserve in Africa. Wonder if leopards just want/enjoy riding? Cheers Phil

"Les Bradby's War These abandoned photo's were found when I was clearing out the late Les Bradby's home at Marsh Lane, Ashton. Other Bradby family photo's can be found on my set Lost Faces of Bristol. This set is all about Les Bradby's war experience, he was in Burma with the airforce, involved in communication and anti-aircraft as far as I know, but if anyone can tell me more then please do. This is my tribute to a man I never knew, but who lived a full and interesting life and should not be forgotten. "
