Quite so; and one has to wonder about people dressing their children as Hitler Youth too.

In the same vein I was recently sent this image of some "re-enactors", neither "re" or "enactor" would seem to be entirely appropriate.

Well, some wag, who may well inhabit these parts and lives in the antipodes too, made some suggestion about a cargo parachute. . . . .

I also consulted my respected Wehrmacht walking encyclopaedia and as I thought, there were no known female Fallschirmjager troops and they were never issued jeans.

Oh dear.

Default Vehicle

And the vehicle on the right with the number 4?

Obviously a Wehrmacht Ländroverendiskoveritenvagen scout car.

Judging by the quality of the recruits, I'd say this is late in the war...definitely post 2nd Front on the Dnieper, although some of the soldiers appear too well fed to be on the Ost Front. Could be members of a field kitchen unit of Der Grossen Schnitzel division.

Not only but also. . . . . . . . . . . . . .I have just received a mail from a respected author and researcher; not only Mr. Schickelgruber but a Bin Laden "re-enactor" made an appearance.

Allegedly both were ejected from the show, therefore the uploaded "official" web site photo seems to be a bit of a gaffe.

Here´s an inside view of the cab of an English/Danish CMP look-alike. . .looks the part, doesn´t it?

I don´t have any problems with fakes (either people or vehicles), as long as no-one is trying to pass them off as authentic. I also don´t understand the fuss about non-authentic vehicles used in movies. I watched Saving Private Ryan again the other day, and frankly, if someone is only watching the vehicles, he/she is made of stone.

Hanno,

The Danish army Bedford RL, which is really a descendant of the Chev C60 as they are both GM products and the 300 ci Bedford engine is of similar basic design to the "Stovebolt".

Regarding "fake vehicles", with the amount of interest and lack of vehicles through rarity or cost, this will always happen. No one worries too much now about the M201 Hotchkiss finished as a WW2 jeep, or the replica German armoured cars built on Land Rover running gear, or the German tanks built for films such as Saving Private Ryan. There was even a replica WW1 tank present at W&P built on a Centurion hull, seemed to fool a few people. You accept them for what they are. If it was not for some replicas or "fakes", the visual and moving image of these vehicles would not be seen for real, only as pictures in books or exhibits in museums, so they do serve a purpose.

Richard

BAND OF BROTHERS made SAVING RYAN'S PRIVATES look like a comic book... silly story, bad acting, terrible tactical evolutions, and a continuity-girl who was obviously smoking something other than baccie! Great at the time, but we here on this forum could do better...

The first bit of the movie I found very impressive. Band of Brothers on a whole was better than SPR, but were you distracted at any time by the "wrong" vehicles, either International Half-Tracks being used by Murricans or movie prop Jagdpanzers? If I am distracted by such details, the movie is usually cr@p!

I built this vehicle for League of Extraordinary Gentlemen which, being set in 1899, made it a bit of a science fiction tank! We recently converted it to be a bit more like a WW1 tank, but with the constraints of its previous guise, could only do so much. Would never fool any of us, though I'm sure the public didn't notice or care!

And, if I'm not mistaken it turned and bit you causing a breakage of the personal, and internal tankbarrel support framework.

Well, it certainly looks ready to be the star in the next WW1 movie!

Hanno,

Witnessed the newly restored Jagdpanther running today (see web site www.sdkfz.com). It sounded and looked superb, but so it should with all the work done on it.
