Oh, not to worry; I just don't trust the postal service; anywhere.

Well I gave you the starting formula so you just need to tweak it a bit from there and guess the boiling water volume too. You have plenty of time to consider this while the weedy 1kW kettle gets its act together; bit like a WWII RN ship; 24hrs notice of steam.

Yes, its a problem. Customarily and historically we always expect visitors and thus make a full pot, the huge wastage keeps the purveyors of excellent leaf in good order.

Quite so, I would never assume you were complete idiots in the frozen wastes of the N. American colonies.

I commend your application of Babelfish too.

I'm sure Max will be happy to send you some meal-size vacuum packed frozen portions in due course.

Wait a minute: have we hijacked this thread? What was it about anyway?

Not to worry Keith, all relevant, the genny is for running the freezer which will have frozen portions of Happy in.

Good question, mate... I thought it was about 240v vs 110v, but here we end up talking about Max (yet again... he's like a bad penny sometimes). Or am I just slightly off this evening? I must be missing her more than usual [sigh]...

Sorry, Keith, but the South Island of NZ has the best power supply. All that snow-melt-fed Hydro means that their electricity doesn't even need to be filtered, keeping the best Frozen Sheep carcasses. Auckland has an insatiable appetite for electricity, but they can't transfer it from the South as the fresh water would be tainted with salt when crossing Cook Strait.

A Generator makes DC and an Alternator makes AC. A Generator will produce current by itself, while an Alternator needs an input current to excite the fields, hence the (little) Generator mounted on top of the (big) Alternator.

Default The Lambs

I went to see Happy today and its Twins, quite common in Merinos. Both females they are having trouble with mums milk, Max has the problem solved though, one was having her milk with maple syrup the other with a little tomato sauce.

It looks a little ad hoc though. There appears to be two exciters, one undriven and a modern vehicle alternator on the engine too.

Often the excitation is integral or axial with the main alternator.

Hells Bells man, who'd want to travel the highway to hell for some dual standard electricity, by the time you'd loaded up it would be dark and so back in black.

I suppose if Keefy cleans up the genny himself though it'd be a dirty deed done cheap.

I think the grey Generator on top of the main Alternator appears original enough. The other whirly bit driven off the flywheel appears to be a Governor, Guv'nor.

Max, as the Alternator Input drive seems to be hard coupled to the engine's crankshaft/flywheel, I'd imagine replacing a one-piece drive belt to the Generator and Governor would be a time consuming affair? Is the existing belt to the Governor a rivetted multi-segment piece or one-piece rubber? I can't see it clearly in your pic. I think I might have some lengths of rivetted belt somewhere.
