... there was also camp utopia, the whole coastal defence net at dufferin(west saint john), and barrack green armouries in south saint john. during the war, saint john had military installations all over the place, some of which still exist today. as for the number of cmp's in the province, i know of about 12, and this includes the ones lying around rotting in fields. as for ones to be restored/ being restored, the breakdown is as follows:
1942 ford f15a mach kl, 13 cab 1944 chev c15a wire, 13 cab 1941 chev c15a, 12 cab (my own truck) and there is a c8a hup series, but i'm not sure what the status is on it. mike |

the only 11 cab i have ever seen is a chev c30, but the owner want's to sell the whole truck, and the price he is asking is too much. many 12 cab parts will fit the 11 cab, but mine is the only one i know of. mechanically, many commercial, and 11/12/13 series cmp parts will interchange, but this has to be researched. the manuals do come in handy when trying to figure this stuff out, and this very forum is another wonderful resource. mike

Hi Mike,
Fred Ogilvie in New Maryland is still working away on his C8A HUP. He got a parts chassis from me a couple of years ago so except for body doors I think he now has enough to make one complete HUP. I will send you some pictures taken late in Oct 2006. Fred also has a very tough C60 chassis that may be for sale. Brian |

Brian; I am now the proud owner of the aforementioned C60"chassis", and I do use that term loosely.

the frame which the hatch attaches to, which is bolted to the roof measures 25" wide x 17 1/8". the hatch itself measures 25 1/8" x 18". these measurements are from my 12 cab c15a

Square roof hatches on CMP's (12 & 13 cab CMP's and 13 cab artillery tractors) are all the same whether Ford or Chev...BUT...11 and 12 cab Ford and Chev artillery tractors (7A1 & 7A2 bodies) have different roof hatches.

bunjor eric
what is your plan, to remove the skeleton from the vehicle, build a body on it, and place back on vehicle, or to build it in place? you should get in touch with walter brand and albert baines...they totally rebuilt an fgt (pictured above), and they would have all kinds of info on these vehicles. their work is superb bar none. perhaps someone on this forum would have their contact information |

Eric you must be congratulated for you enthusiasm and creativity.
Quand on tiens compte que tu travailles a partir de photo sans avoir a ta disponibilite un autre camion pour en faire comparaison, je dois te dire "Chapeau"...... To many of us are perfectionist and as a result, my truck is still in perfectly restored pieces...... I am amazed at what you have put together....... Go for it Eric........ but keep looking for another cab 11 or 12 for spare parts. Bob Carriere

between this fgt thread, and the hammond barn news, i have gotten the inspiration to get back to work on my 12 cab. with a little help from the gas axe, she is now reduced to a nearly bare frame....and now the fun begins!! mike |

Eric
Welcome from another Ford CMP guy - in Kingston ON! The square rad badge that you need I don't think is the same as the one that Tony illustrated. The one you want is available from a supplier in Alberta - whose name I think is George Moir. His phone number and address I've forgotten and all of my info is at the cottage. I won't be going there for a week or so but I'll post the info when I do. The badge in question was originally used, i believe, as a trunk badge for the prewar Lincoln car. It comes in red or blue enamel which, sad to say, should be painted over in khaki! The other bad news is that it will cost you $50! It's well worth downloading the parts catalogues from the US parts suppliers Macs, Early Ford and Dennis Carpenter - just google those names and you will get to their web sites and can download their catalogues as pdf files. Although they dont know much if anything about Ford CMP's, its amazing how many parts that you will need that they have! You can often cross reference the parts numbers from Alex's manuals. George Moir has a lot of the same stuff but considerably dearer. Cheers and Good Luck Let me know if you are coming Kingston way. |
