It's not that clear here but that is a hinge to the front and it does open up.

Default numbers

Just some info.
Front end shell assembly serial number in painted in white=75111.
Holden engine bay plate= Body J 4766
44 10 194
Chassis #=38444M00044

Can anyone shed some light on the above numbers?

75111 is the Army Registration Number or ARN.

No info on the Holden plate

And the chassis number is the year of manufacture 3 = 1944,
8444 = C15A
M= Melbourne build
00044 = vehicle chassis serial.

Was there a WO number on the data plate with the chassis number? A likely candidate would be in the range of WO 15 - 20 which were Battery Staff versions.

Hi Keith,
The serial numbers I took down were from their various locations. I still haven't taken off the data plate on the dash to see if I can read the reverse side.
I see if I can get that done later today.
