Jim Fraser up at Arnprior sold me some metric tubes that were close enough for my (Israeli) 9.00 x 13 tires. The have held air just fine for two years now but I had to get some RV extenders to bring the air inlets round from the back of the wheel. I would really like to get some better looking tires though. |

If you look in old farm type tire shops that have been in business for quite a while you can come up with 14 or 15 inch tubes with the bent metal valve stem like you need. They don't make them anymore though. Another option is replacement metal stems that glue in place.
Keep your old liners since you can't get any more of them either. You can take a 16 inch liner and split it and taper the ends to make it work.

Those are nice looking rubber, I myself like the UNIMOG type tires for 4x4 CMP's BUT Im told they do not meet CDN DOT regs , as everyone here I know that has a x Swiss MOG has to have the tires replaced before they can get it to pass inspection in BC, too bad as Id love to find 4 I think they are 10:50x20 tires. If anyone knows of 5 good ones Id still kinda be interested as a loophole might be able to be used to just get them by inspection.

still have a tube problem here....
When I ordered the tires, I forgot to get the tubes.
Never thought the tires would ever get here anyway. In fact, out of that huge pile that the wholesaler said was coming, only 14 actually showed up at the warehouse. Tried to get around the tube problem with a set of multi-fit 7.00-7.50x15" tubes. Mounted one tire today on a rim that someone had drilled a valve stem hole on the outer rim half at some point. Tube fit fine, but has this goofy-looking long valve stem protruding from the front. Dealer said that the tubes they sell for the tires are not the ones with the metal 90-degree valve stems anyway. Two steps foreward, one step back..... Thanks, David |

Tubes for 9.00 x 13 Tires
David,
I did not order any tubes either when I ordered my tires. However, I purchased truck inner tubes which came with the bent metal valve stems in size 8.25 x 15 and they work just fine in my MRF tyres. I don't recall the maker but one of the tubes that came with the original truck tires was a Michelin tube in that size. You might want to check with a local tire shop. Best regards, Jim |

This dealer in the UK lists the MRF 9.00-13 Sandgrip tyres: http://www.totectyres.co.uk/military.aspx
He has even used Tony's pictures from the start of this thread! Could this mean that the interest we express for tyres is actually picked up by a dealer? H.

I think the guy from this company had been on HMVF forum somewhile ago, enquiring on what sizes of tyres that forum members were looking for, so looks like he will be a good source for 9.00-16 bartreads and 9.00-13 sandgrips in the UK.

There is a set of brand new 9.00x13 tyres for sale on HMVF, but it's even more interesting to see that while the seller advertises them as Olympic (and they have indeed the obvious thread), they have "BKT SAND STAR" written on them.....so....did BKT take over the molds of our beloved Olympics???
Alex http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread...x-13-tyres-NEW EDIT; Indeed, it seems that BKT has taken over the Olympic molds for the 9.00x13 tyre! http://www.bkt-tires.com/bkt_catalog_search.html Search for 13inch rim size ...

tyres
Alex
The Olympic factory was in Melbourne , it closed around 10 years ago when PACIFIC DUNLOP decided it wasnt viable to compete against ASIA making tyres. The 900-13's were made in Melbourne by OLYMPIC . I heard the OLYMPIC 900-13 moulds were sent off-shore to a ASIAN country . They also made 900 -16's in small batches for the army reserves' aging 25 pounder guns , right up to the early 1970's - don't know what happened to the moulds, they were directional tread - a few have turned up . Trellborg 260/90-13 imp. tires
For anyone interested I talked to my local OK tire dealer in Saskatchewan. They happen to be dealers for Trellborg brand , he figured he could get a set of 13 inch tires on a one - two month back order. just over 200 dollars cost.
I think I might go for these .they are the same as Davids C8 in Texas. Anthony

Hi Rob
Good to see your still around as we discussed at your place a while back I'd go for 20 900/13 tires for my trucks If Wade tires will produce them i think its the only way to get good tires. Am in the process of making up some 15 inch wheels to fit the 800cwt. Missed seeing you at the Easter gun show Arlon |

Hi Andrew,
If you want, I have a mate who regularly brings containers of vehicles and parts out of Wlmington, CA- (used to bring tyres in as a small thing for various people too). He can organise transport in the states to get these tyres to his container too. He is here in Sydney- castle hill to be exact. He's a great bloke- member of the chev club here in Sydney. I've used him for years at very reasonable prices to bring jeep bits in as have others here in sydney who ive recommended John to- and he's known my mum for the last 40+ years through the vintage car movement too, so he's not going to disappear overnight! If you want, I can pass you on his number and you could give him a call to see if he can help you get them here? Send me a PM and ill pass it on if your interested. Cheers, Ian.

Any idea where to buy 9.00 x 13 tubes and tyres in continental Europe? Shipping costs from UK are killer. Prefered pattern on photo.

Search the internet for MRF or Trelleborg dealers. A quick search shows at the Trelleborg tyre are available in the Netherlands, and a further search reveals at least the Trelleborg tyre is also available in Poland. But, is this meant for your C15? Surely this should have 9.00-16 tyres? Regards, Hanno

Ah yes, in that case, read new 9.00-16 tyres for WD split rim wheels. The British/Canadian 16" split rims are actually larger in diameter than their American counterparts, so any new tyre you buy today (with the exception of the ones mentioned in the first link) will not fit without either turning down the rim or grinding the bead off the tyre. Although some MLU members have been able to fit tyres after properly sandblasting and painting the rims and using ample tyre soap.
The most commonly available 9.00-16 tyres have the NDMS profile: This is a correct WW2 profile, although not often seen on British/Canadian trucks. Another option you could look at is the Mitas / Petlas NT-3 tyre: It comes in 9.00-16, has a suitable profile and is retailed in Poland! Good luck and let us know what you end up with fitting to your C15. HTH, Hanno

Recently spotted a pair of Firestone 9.00-13 sand pattern tyres at Joop Staman. They look brand new and are made in Switzerland.

They are Firestone brand, and came out of Norway. Hope this helps, Lex Schmidt |

NOS Tires have a role
Hi All
That role may best be as display tires for stationary equipment, which is still an important use so I hope everyone will keep their eyes out for finds such as Lex posted. If they turn out to be recent production that is fantastic. If they are NOS and 50 years old great finishing for display purpose. Mike is pointing out something that any of us who worked with old tires realize just because it looks new proceed with caution. When I first got my HUP it still was wearing some of its original tires but it was very clear that driving on them was not in the cards. Then by chance found set of NOS truck tires looked perfect, but once mounted and inflated to 35 psi and a few miles, 50 to 100, cracks started appearing in the side walls. Cheers Phil

Here are two current websites listing 9.00-13 with the same sand pattern tread as the old Olympics.
http://www.bkt-tires.com/it/bkt_prod...gory=sandtires BKT Sandstar 9.00-13 http://www.tyretraders.com.au/index....nd-grip-detail Harvest Sand Grip 9.00-13 Given the low speed of vehicles which used these tyres, or trailers such as the Bofors AA gun, they should be capable, providing you check the load limit per tyre. The BKT website lists an email address in the EU for people in Europe, I think the company are in India. The second link is from Australia.

Better still, it is a Melbourne dealer . The older hay balers use 900-13's . The farmers here all use the modern wrapped round bales , the baling is going on right now in this district
