Default CMP (Ford) Instrument Faces Reproductions

I have spent hundreds of Aussie Dollars on behalf of all you restorers to give you a perfect final detail for your CMP. Available are full size reproduction speedos, gauges and switch plates in a high quality vinyl sticker. I've attached an image of the silver face series speedo. I'll post any other gauge on request. The early Ford gauge faces are easy to restore as the front metal of the gauge is removable. Just watch the needles.

And not to leave the Chevrolet owners out, Chevrolet instrument glass stickers already mounted on glass or perspex and the speedometer are almost ready. Details posted when available.

Individual Prices

Brown Speedo $10.00
Silver Speedo $11.00
Brass 5 Switch Plate $8.50
Brass 3 Switch Plate $6.50
Silver 5 Switch Plate $8.50
Silver 3 Switch Plate $6.50
Brown Battery $2.50
Brown Fuel KS A 7712N $2.50
Brown Oil KS A 7717N $2.50
Brown Temp KS A 7732N $2.50
Silver Amp KS 40237N $2.50
Silver Batt KS A 40673N $2.50
Silver Fuel KS A 8808C $2.50
Silver Oil KS A 8807C $2.50
Silver Temp KS A 8813C $2.50
Waltham Speedo Reel $2.50

Set Prices - the best way to go for that perfect match

Brown face series - complete set including speedo reel and switch plates - $37.50

Silver face series - complete set including speedo reel and switch plates - $38.50

All prices are in Aussie Dollars and with the current exchange rate the overseas buyers are getting a good quality product at a bargain price. Postage is extra but in most cases all sets would be in a standard letter size.

Buy big guys and gals. Ada and I have a 1945 Ford Blitz ambulance and the Armoured Car "Bandicoot" to support.

Aussie Bob

Angry The image disappeared

Here I sit typing to myself with the machine telling me the image size of the silver series speedo is too large. I'll try something smaller at 4 minutes past midnight.

Default Another gauge to tempt you

Hi Mike - whats a discount? The Chev gear will be nothing new apart from the fact that its all done to scale and authentic. Talking with the designers they seem better equipped to mount the speedo sticker on the glass or perspex themselves as it is a large sticker. I'll have to wait and see the cost. In the mean time here is a sample of the brown face series, I hope.

Bob,

Do your Ford 3 Switch Plates have the script "Autopulse" underneath the middle switch hole? As noted in the message three switch plate, this is the only difference between Chevrolet and Ford switch plates.

The picture below shows the aluminium Chevrolet switch plate reproductions by Eric Delcommenne of Belgium (see http://www.canadiantruck.com/ )

Default Reproduction Gauge Faces - Brown Face Series

I have finally received all the completed gauge sets from my manufacturer. They are made of high quality vinyl. This series is an early cluster of a combination of King-Seeley gauges and a Waltham Clock Company speedometer with a King-Seeley face. This cluster was seen in early Australian manufacture Bren Gun Carriers and early Ford trucks. The price for this set is $AUD37.50 plus postage and will also include your choice of brass or silver switch plate.

Default Reproduction Gauge Faces - Silver Face Series

Following on from the Brown Face Series came this series that were seen in later production Fords. Again a combination of King-Seeley gauges and the Waltham speedo. $AUD38.50 for this set.

Default Reproduction Gauge Faces - Mixed Series

Subject to availability during the war years, often a mix of instruments was seen. I have seen this on later Oz Bren Gun Carriers and the FGT-8 that has just been restored at the South Australian Military Vehicle Museum. $AUD38.50 plus postage for this set.

An amendment to the Silver Face series - you will notice three different configurations of voltmeter. These are what I have found out here so far. You have the choice.

Default Reproduction Gauge Faces - Switch Plates

These are the two varieties of Switch Plates. There is another 3 switch plate with "Autopulse" in the centre spot. I would like to borrow a good example of this to copy for the collection. These plates are included in the sets.

Smile Autopulse

Bob and Hanno,

I have found a picture of a Autopulse pump in a CMP Ford. I am not shure if this pump is of the same kind as used during WW II because the picture is from the "D.V.D Vehicle Trials Winter 1948 - 1949 Northwest Higway Report"(I purchased the report from Colin Macgregor Stevens a few weeks ago). But the chance of them beeing quite similar must be big. Or?

Lars, that's the one. Part nr.C29Q-9350, check Dirk Leegwater's site for a picture. They were fitted to Fords built under Indian Army contracts, and apparently were available as retrofit kits as well. And it seems they were of use in the arctic, too. What does the Winter Report say about the Autopulse pump?

Lightbulb Autopulse

Hanno,

There is not much information in the winter report about the Autopulse but this is what I have found:

"PART VI - RESULTS

4. OPERATING

4.6 Miscellaneous Items

4.6.1 Auxiliary Electric Fuel Pumps

These were found to be of considerable assistance, particularly after draining of fuel filters, cleaning of carburetor or replacement or repair of fuel lines, due to the fact that the entire carburetor filter and pipelines can be refilled with fuel without using engine starter as a means of actuating the fuel pump. It is believed that they also assist in starting the vehicle engine at all temperatures due to the fact that they maintain fuel at proper level in the carburetor at all times wheter or not the engine is operating."

"Part VIII - RECOMMENDATIONS

3. CHEVROLET C.M.P. VEHICLES

3.9 That an autopulse pump be installed in series with main fuel pump or alternatively an accessible main fuel pump manual operatng device be fitted.

22. AUXILIARY ELECTRIC FUEL PUMPS

22.1 That these be considered a requirement on gasoline engined vehicles."

I attach a picture of the vehicles participating in the test

Hey Hanno - let him do his own advertising on his own thread. Where is your loyalty?

Excuse me - I was bumping your thread which might help in increasing sales, courtesy of MLU. Anyway, I moved it to its own thread as they are for Chevrolets anyway.

Which reminds me, have you managed to make proper Ford 3 Switch Plates with the script "Autopulse" underneath the middle switch hole? As you know this is the only difference between Chevrolet and Ford switch plates.

H.
