Default Speedometer for WWII Dodge

I am looking to replace the speedometer in my WC56. It's an early 1942 3/4 ton command car. If you have one for sale please let me know . Thanks !

Les,

Is it the same as a pre-war civilian Dodge truck speedometer? Could you post a picture?

Jack

That photo has the wrong needle. Should be a straight, all white needle with no dovetail. Correct brand is Electric Autolite Company.

I would be inclined to never say never on speedo types.

This really good research on Jeep gauges (if you think there are some "robust" discussions on micro subjects on MLU you have not been on Jeep forums)

http://www.jeepdraw.com/correctgauges.html

Just a quick look on Google brought up 3 different "correct" speedos supposedly removed from untouched Dodges. The long needle white type, the long needle same shape but with cream radiation glow paint and the half black/half white needle. I am sure there are probably more.

Manufacturers included but not a complete list:

Waltham
King Seeley
Stewart Warner
Autolite
MotoMeter
AC

There is no question Chrysler used standardised parts from the same multiple sources as all the other manufacturers - not just trinkets like lights, instruments and electrical equipment but more serious stuff like bearings, major engine bolt-on parts, tyres etc.
