Default Canvas Windscreen Cover

Calling the MLU Brains trust.

Has anyone seen or heard of canvas windscreen cover for a Cab 12?

I have seen one at our Corowa event (It actually looked like a tool bag that rolls up).
We were not sure if it was a defence issued item in wartime, or post war, or a civilian made thing. ( It did look military).

Unfortunately I have no pictures of it.

A very good canvas fellow has made me a variant. Interestingly enough my windscreen frame has some footman loops on the outside at the top.

Reasons for making one are that it makes a huge difference to the Cab temperature when the truck is in full Aussie summer sun. It also acts as a very good sun visor.

Needs a but of tweeking - but here are some pictures

Default Is this it?

Pretty certain this photo came courtesy of someone on the MLU Forum, but I can't remember where or when. Truck looks familiar!

Owen.

Jack,

I don't think he needs the wipers as the bag keeps the screen dry.

Tony,

I think I have seen period pictures of the North African battles with these covers on trucks. Presumably to avoid the sun reflecting on the surface and alerting the enemy(?)

It does look good on your Cab12!

Default Well Well...

Nice find Owen!

I did not even realise there was a photo of it taken!!!

That is very interesting Alex. I do agree with you, it makes sense these would have been used in Africa.

Are you able to find some of those pictures Alex?

Suspect you'd be right Jack. Reckon the old vacuum system would struggle...

Tony, didn't this windscreen cover feature in one of the Corowa DVD's?

Keith did a great little feature on it.

Perhaps Keith may put a link up to that section of the DVD.

Hopefully?

Keith?

Default Nice Hanno

What a great example Hanno.

You would think it must be attached to the footman loops along the top of the windscreen frame.

Nice to see it carefully rolled up and not impeding the drivers view,
