I've accumulated enough docs to place my Grandfather in training in Borden Ontario, I have the following info and I am trying to find the Group Panoramic photo of my grandfather. He was transferred from the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment to the Three Rivers Regiment with the following individuals. This might sound foolish ...
Have you asked the 12e RBC in Trois Rivieres if they have any panorama photos on their walls? The Three Rivers Regiment (ie TRR) was rebadged to the 12e Regiment Blinde du Canada (12eRBC) with regular troops from the Fort Garry Horse, and their reserve element claimed from Trois Rivieres. The regulars in Valcartier have maybe 35-40 yrs of regular history on their walls.
(It makes my head hurt to think how this was decided, why this precedence and naming convention, but bigger minds than mine obviously had higher principles to unhold.)

A bit of information. The first image is, as named of the officers. I believe it was an early image, maybe Camp Borden. I can't read the entire inscription or a date?
The second, fourth and last images appear to be from the time the unit was in Camp Borden training. The central image was taken either at the end of the war, or after hostilities ended. Note the Sherman Firefly's in the background. They were not equiped with this type of Sherman until at least late 1944. Someone on the Forum will have better dating. The unit was named 12e Régiment Blindé to perpetuate the Three River's Regiment seniority in the Second World War armoured corps seniority. It was done to honour the historic record of the Regiment. There is a regimental history of the Three River's Regiment, in both official languages IIRC, but it is very hard to find. I don't remember if it has panoramic sqn images in it. |
