David,

What I mean is the mk2 late ram kangaroo, without the commanders Coppola turret. (Hole that makes sense)

I think you mean when did they change from front mg turret to ball mount?

A couple of years ago there was a restored Ram Kangaroo at W&P. I haven't seen it since, is it still in the UK? It might have been the one that you repaired the lower hull side on Adrian.

Buster,
If you do mean when did the ball mount bow machine gun mount come in, I can not give you an exact date but it would be January 1943 or not much outside it. It was at vehicle number CT159502. This makes a total of 692 gun tanks that were built that way. There were also 178 Command/OPs, Amunition carriers and Command Post tanks for which later numbers were allocated (ie not conversions) but it is not certain how many were actually built. The Canadians chose to convert their Kangaroos from ball mount type hulls as far as possible but the British were less picky.

Alistair,
That Kangaroo has since been finnished and is now at the new Australian War museum, see the seperate thread here for a picture of it before and after restoration. A bit like your Loyd but heavier !

David
