Default Order # for David H

I had a fellow email me some photos of his C15A along with one of the data plate, info as follows

Chassis 4844413849
Engine s/n PR4050224
Order No. PE-205-63
July 13-45

It is a little difficult reading some of this info, and we have a language barrier issue as well. It is possible that it reads PC in the order no as opposed to PE but looks like an E to me.
I don't recall seing an order No. start with two letters like that. What was that order for ??? The fellow who has contacted me appears to be using Spanish so I will have to figure out where he is located.

Thanks

Jeff

Try an online translator, or if you wish, I have friends on Tanknet who speak the language. Lastly, you can use Domain Dossier to find out where the IP address resolves (it's in the detailed header of his email).

Default Now in South America?

These are the three "PE" contracts I now know of for that model:

4844413824 ENGINE # PR4,050,222 AUS CONTRACT PE-205-63 [NOW IN SOUTH AMERICA] JULY 13 1945
4844413849 ENGINE PR4,050,224 NO. PE-205-63 JULY 13 1945
4844420112 PE-211-103 APRIL 27 1945 [HOLDEN-ASSEMBLED]

Note two trucks, same order, 25 units between them, same date of assembly, engines two out! Amazing!

I imagined that it stood for Procurement Executive? Also that it was an Australian contract reference.

Hi David, Thanks for the response. It is quite possible that this C15A is also in South America, I will let you know when I find out for sure. Always interesting when 2 trucks show up with same build dates and see how close engine # etc are !!

Also interesting how two Australian Contract CMP's with close serial No's should end up in South America together!

Default Plates

Thanks for the details...perhaps someone could note the Ford contract CDLV?

As regards the C8, this is my total database now:

2842001130 ENGINE # MR3,765,943
2842001192 ENGINE # WR3,765,985
2842001330 ENGINE # WR3,766,091
2842001378
2842001395
2842001422
2842001427
2842001497

PRODUCTION TERMINATED LATE 1941

I am sure that the "MR" is a cock-up in stamping, and that the person responsible got a "W" upside down.

Jeff:
I speak Spanish and if you want to forward me the email I will try to help out. I can also do Portuguese pretty well.

Default Argentina

Alfio, Lives in Argentina and has been sending me several photos of his restoration. As well he has sent me several photos of various CMP's around Argentina. One stands out as it looks to be a restored Chev FAT of some nature... anyone give more insight..?

Thanks

Jeff

Default Fat

Jeff, it's a 1945 7B3 model FAT, and a Ford, not a Chev. The Argentinians and Portuguese seemed to acquire most if not all of these under post-war aid. It was the ultimate Canadian development of the type, superceding the beetleback design and was similar to the late production Morris FATs.

Here's a pic of another one owned by Manuel Vasquez in Argentina.

Lots more pics here.
