Default adolph toy

On a recent trip to Europe my wife and I stayed with her cousin who lives in a small village called Haller in Luxembourg. They moved there from England and were restoring the old farmhouse they bought. When the barn next to the house was cleaned out they found the enclosed Adolph H. toy. They actually found three of them and they appear to be commercially made. When you squeeze the green handles he swings his arms around and goose steps.

I don't know if their village was occupied during the war so where the toys originated is a mystery. Has anyone ever seen anything like these before?

As a young boy in Glasgow or Luton, I had a similar toy using the same slat construction for articulation. Mine was an orange painted, white dotted clown suit figure in blackface which we referred to , quite unashamedly, as a "Golliwog".
