Last Post on Violin
Not a bad alternative. Sometimes might be easier to find someone who can play a violin than a bugle for a ceremony.

It was very, very nice, but I think for the sake of sentimentality and tradition, I would just as soon hear it on the bugle. Mind you it seems like I have only heard recordings at the ceremonies the past bunch of years.

Seldom do you even hear a bugle - mostly cornet or trumpet these days. They have a lot better sound than a bugle but you can't beat tradition. Lang |

Listening to the Last Post on a cold trumpet is painful. This past Sunday at my Legion Branch's services, the cadet bandsman who tried, bless his soul, kept squawking and blowing. He must have missed hearing the trick to playing with a cold mouthpiece.
