Heavily Modified Chev Cab13 FGT
In our area, both the Ford and the Chev versions of the Field Gun or Artillery Tractors were used as log "skidders" in the bush. The shorter wheel base made them a little easier to turn and their lighter weight didn't tear up the bush as much but the frames couldn't take the twisting and pulling and additional clearance was required to clear stumps and rocks. Some of these original trucks morphed into some extraordinary looking machines. My friend has a Chev Cab13 version that he is using now, not only a skidder but a side by side, 4x4 runabout. Today, he drove it down to my shop to have some engine service work done this weekend. It was doing 40 kph on the highway, in low range. It would be kind of crazy to see what it will do in 4H!
