Default Dutch archives

Here is a list of online Dutch archives (non-exhaustive):

Ministry of Defence: https://nimh-beeldbank.defensie.nl/

Library of Zeeland: https://digitaal.dezb.nl/beeldbank/

Collectie Nederland: https://data.collectienederland.nl/

Image bank NIOD: https://www.niod.nl/en/imagebase-ww2 - refers to Image bank: https://beeldbankwo2.nl/en/

home page for archival research: https://www.archieven.nl/en

Find some more via https://www.tweedewereldoorlog.nl/ke...nen/archieven/

Only some have an English language version, but searching should be intuitive.

Enjoy!

Hi Hanno

Good idea.

Faces of the Second World War. A library and Archives Canada (LAC) effort:
"...This database features photographs of men and women who served in the Canadian Forces during the Second World War. Taken from the Department of National Defence (DND) collection at Library and Archives Canada, these photographs depict military life during the Second World War...".

The British National Army Museum has an online archive as well:

Ram tanks of 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), 1944

Photograph by Major Wilfred Herbert James Sale, MC, 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), World War Two, Home Front, 1944.

The Ram was a Cruiser tank designed and built in Canada, based on the American M3 Medium tank. Around 2000 were produced until mid-1943 when the decision was made to adopt the Sherman tank for all British and Canadian armoured units. Although the majority of Ram's were not used in combat, a few were converted into observation post vehicles during the North West Europe campaign (1944-1945).

From an album containing 233 photographs compiled by Major W H J Sale, MC, 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters).

Excellent pics in the RNZAF Royal New Zealand Air Force Archives.

See for example https://fotoweb.airforcemuseum.co.nz...on/?q=%20truck for a search on the term "truck".

Default Memory Project Archive

Loads of veteran's stories and interesting photos:

https://www.thememoryproject.com/

"The Memory Project Archive houses more than 2,800 testimonials and over 10,000 images from veterans of the First World War, Second World War, the Korean War and peacekeeping missions. While the archive no longer accepts submissions, it remains the largest of its kind in Canada. Canadians can access the interviews, digitized artifacts and book a speaker at www.thememoryproject.com/stories."

Truck is a Chev CMP 11/12 Cab and the weapon is a Mk1 Boys AT.

November 1942 was the third time Bardia changed hands, so there is a possibility that the truck had been captured earlier by the Germans and lost again at Bardia, but it is certainly of Allied origin.
