Default Welcome

Hi Andrew and welcome to the forum.

It might help to have some more details of your vehicle including location and some pictures.

Max Hedges may be able to help with some info. He has two Chev cab 12s as well as a heap of Ford 12s and even a Chev cab 11.

Default possibly make them

Andrew ,

I had two sets of NOS doors for cab 12's . They were Ford made I think as they didn't have the inner trim panel as the Chevs did . The Ford cab 12 doors had just a small inner panel on the lower edge , whereas the Chev version had a full panel covering the whole inner side of the door .... ?

I purchased them from Keith Webb's former work place in Camberwell back in the early 1980's , just before its demise . The counter salesperson , Jack O'Donnell always had a guilty look on his face , as if he was doing a sly deal on the side . He was a character . I think the business was a part of the old Hancock dynasty , as was Auto Surplus in Mitcham , at the time .

If your any good at sheet metal work , you could make them .

Mike

Andrew,

Don't be sad that you have a Ford truck - many people have gotten over this and gone on to lead normal and productive lives.

Hanno - did you ever get over your Ford?

Would it look like this one spotted in Dubbo, before the Big M Auction?

Hi Stewart,

No I´m still not over it. And Doc says I won't for the rest of my life. "Learn to live with it", he says. Maybe buying a Chev will make me a bit more normal and productive?

Default Dubbo Clearance

Andrew did you buy the F15 at the Dubbo Auction?

I was not cranky there; it was just a long hot day!

I won the F15A.

was a ex forrestry commission truck
good cab but chassis was cut and extended to a 134 unfortunately
a friend of mine picked up the c60 in the paddock at the auction
your f15a was it the one in the paddock or semi restored one ?
i had to leave before they got to the paddock lot again after they changed the lineup of sales
congrats on the pickup by the way hows it coming along ?

Andrew ,

The most effective solution to your dilemma is for you is find some kind CMP owner who will lend you a cab 12 door to copy .

There is nothing like having the original item in your hands to copy . I have seen a few repro doors made in the home workshop ,. A guilotine and folder are essential . The time involved is the main hassle , measuring . It's slow and tedious work .

Hi Andrew,

Mine was the semi (not) restored truck. It was just paint on it that made it look good. Sadly that was all. and many MLU members know that from my begging for parts. I have way to go.. Tony Smith will testify to the longness and hotness of the Dubbo auction. It was not a fun day.. but it was a good day.

Search 'DUBBO' and you will see comments here. And "new truck". You will see comments.

E-mail me direct. Shedman_33@yahoo.com

ian
your 15a should come up nicely
another friend of mine bought the c60l shown in the dubbo link . now looks like a hand grenade went off in the cab -hes using cab for a c15a project .we dont know what happened to that truck when it stopped but it sure would not have been pretty .it was enough to crack transfer case in half and take out teeth in gearbox !

max
thanks for that
like you said the curve would be the hardest bit

To me it looks like the deck is not original and it should look like the photo below from the AWM.

One side of the box behind the cab was a tool box and the other side the spare wheel carrier.

Hmmm the photos of the deck you have posted seem to be sitting on a 13 cab and not the 12 cab you originally asked about.

That particular deck is a steel drop side and would probably have been a replacement later in life for the Cab 12. The AWM photo is an all wooden affair and more likely to have been fitted to the 12 cab when it was new.

However both would be suitable for the 12 cab. Below is an AWM photo of this drop side deck on a 13 cab on Lae in the Pacific.

Default Radiator

Hi Andrew,

couldnt help noticing that Chev radiator in the weather in the tray there.. put it in your shed and keep it out the elements.. even the sun and dew can wreck them.. though it takes 60 years!

We would all like to see your F15 as well.

Ian
