camberley surrey?
Hi
I've just been listening to a tale about a company in the camberley surrey area that was converting large numbers of carriers to small tracked tracors around the early 1950s... Just wondered if this sounded familiar to anyone? Apparently they were very small and conversion included narrowing the track of the axle.. kind regards nick |

Nick,
That does sound like the Vivian Loyd company, although I am not certain if they were based in Camberley. One of their crawler tractors was known as the Loyd Dragon.

loyds?
hi Richard
Thank you for that, Its a story that my father in law was sharing with me. At the time he was working in Camberley for a company making safety straps and harnesses for the avaition industry. He says that in an area of the works, or at least very nearby on the site was a company (he thought called loyds) that were bringing in ex military carriers and converting them to agricultural tractors. But definately surplus vehicles.. It just made me wonder what happened to the Loyd compny postwar.. was the loyd carrier their last gasp as a manufacturer? kind regards and thanks nick |
