Its 9:50pm on the western edge ot the big rock in the middle of the pond north of antartica, Its a cool 27C at the moment, got to 38C today and 42C an 41C for the next 2. just warm enough to go for a swim at the beach!!

More than by the same token, not knowing exactly Eltham/Corowa distances, then a Stolly fill will be A$619.05 and if two CMP tanks won't do it, then the thirst of Mr Rolls and Mr Royce has no hope of shoving a Stolly that distance too.

You need to have over 6ft of water in your Corowa puddle too for some floating fun but as a saving grace (or fuel) perhaps, and knowing the vast and desolate expanses of that Pacific island; you could just take your ruler to the map and follow a straight line.

Only large trees and some buildings are going to be a problem with a bonus that most of the 14 gearboxes and 12 tracta joints necessary for progress will be happier for the looser surfaces.

That said you do also have the distinct Stalwart advantage of some 4 tons of disposable payload which could be gainfully employed transporting the necessary extra fuel, camping essentials, comestibles and a well equipped workshop with all the necesssary spares that will likely be needed.

For the less adventurous (me) and those of a nervous disposition, then strapping the thing on a semi-trailer realises a 100% improvement in cost per mile and quantum leap in owner stress reduction.

Better, share with someone and get a 200% cost per mile reduction - you can even put a Haflinger in the back too. . . . .

We had a nice relaxing new years day, Vicki invited her inlaws over for lunch and we sat in airconditioned comfort and watched all four episodes of Peking to Paris, I think I would prefer to do that trip in a helicopter rather than a car. New year is over so I guess it's back to work. Have a great year from the Pearce's.

Exactly, Cliffy... it breaks down like this:

January - While we usually get one thaw towards the ends of the month, generally we expect temperatures ranging from zero to -30 C and a fair amount of snow.

February - Much of the same as above; while the days are now noticeably longer, it is equally as cold, although we have more bright days and less snowfall.

March - Can be an evil month. At best, wet, with temps anywhere up to about 10 C, but much colder is generally to be expected these days.

April - Generally wet but above freezing, although I remember a 3-inch snowfall one 22nd April a few years back. They have a saying here, "April showers bring may flowers" - be prepared to use the webs growing between your toes.

June - Summer officially begins on the 21st, but in fact usually happens after midway through the first week. By the middle of the month, people are going nuts waiting for their holidays to start.

July - Summer. Hot, good. 18-hour days (0400-2200).

August - See July, above. Hot, good.

September - The first half is pretty much hot; the second can be as well ('07 being a good example), but it can also start getting cloudier and damper. The days are now noticeably shorter.

October - Can get unusually warm from year to year ('07 again) but can also start getting colder very quickly. North of the border areas, the trees are already turning rapidly and starting to shed their leaves. You can get a frost at night even 20 miles north of the city.

November - Cool and sometimes very wet. Occasionally, you can see snow late in the month but generally not; it will be pretty gray outside though.

December - Can be just about anything from cold, wet and even snowy to fairly warm & dry. '07 was bad in that we have hardly seen the sun for a month and then only sporadically, and we had one good snowfall too. Occasionally you can walk around on Christmas Day with nothing but a light jacket on; this year we froze.

Hi folks,

A happy new year to everyone!

We had a great Christmas and new year, with most of the time going into work on our new house. There was also some CMP time though......I watched the "Year of the Blitz" video during Christmas! and last weekend I was at Dirk and Stefan for a "visit".

It is around 0 degrees here in Holland today...So, just like on a map.....Europe is right between Australia and Canada! We are awaiting for the temperature to rise just a little so we can have a new rear wall installed in our house.
