Default 1942 Chev "twin cab" blitz?-Aust Auction.

Hi all,
found this forsale on this website
http://www.rourkere.com.au/
Go to page #1 listings, and item number 16 in the list.
I dont know my CMP terminology, but could this be a radio van or one of the cmp`s of that similar shape?

Its at an auction near euchuca/deniliquin in N.S.W, so maybe some of you victorians could check it out? Perhaps give them a call and find out exactly what it is?

there`s also ALOT of vintage buick (some dodge) stuff, if only sales like this would come up for our vintage cars with parts like this!

ian.

Default Twin Cab Blitz

Ian - I also would like to know what a twin cab Blitz is. Where are you Keefy - what is it?

Ian I notice your footer states "Would get a CMP if I had the money". We are always getting enquiries from people selling CMPs, so how much have you got and do you want some leads so you can buy one and then own a real vehicle.

Bob

Hi bob,

would be good to know what it is!
Thanks for the kind offer of passing on some leads on a CMP. unfortunately i dont have too much money, and what i do have is currently going towards the GPW to get her on the road for back to the track!

i `ll probably look for a different vehicle after the GPW`s running, thats if i dont get enthused to start straight away on the MB! even if i do finish, i gotta help mum with her 28 chev tourer! so its a busy shed!

Thanks again bob,

Ian.

More than likely it will look like the one below... minus the blackberries.
I've seen about 10 or so in my travels, mostly on C60S or C30 chassis.

These were built post-war for the PMG (Post office) as repair vehicles and mods included a coachbuilt crew cab with wind up windows and a vertical windscreen. Few survive today and this one would be interesting to see. Anyone in the area with a digital camera?

Thanks keith,
that looks preety much what it sounds like in the description.

Seems like it would make the ideal family MV! Kids in the back, sleep in the rear, and plenty of room to carry stuff!

Ian.

And here it is in all its glory. Just needs the tyres pumped up and the windows polished to drive it home.

Oh well it was a nice 600K drive in the spring sunshowers.

Default Twin Cab

Hi Graeme

At least I appreciate the 600 km sacrifice drive you made for all of us. Was it sold and for how much or was it buried on the spot? Anyway we have another Blitz image for posterity.

Well done, Graeme... this must have been a bit disappointing for you - looks like a few decent parts though - front shell, engine cover... how were the windscreen frames?

Default Twin cab

Sadly I dont think you could have lifted this cab from its resting place without Dr.Who's levitation device. Even the intact looking fuel tank in front left one side stuck to the clay when lifted.

I didn't stay for the auction had to get over to Corowa for Alex Jamieson's 95 birthday. He is the guy driving the brengun carrier with the crane mounted on it in the armour forum.

He and my grand father were (encouraged) to work on the construction of Tocumwal aerodrome at the start of the war. His Guy Quad Ant (or whats left of it) is in Melbourne tank museum. A great guy to talk to about military gear during and after the war.

And it looks pretty good too. Out of range for me though.
