Default Mystery clamps

A friend has just found some of these clamps, stamped GPW, with the part number 5SS/1860

Can anyone ID them? The certainly look the right colour for Jeep bits.

Hi Keith. I don't recognize them as a factory jeep part. My guess would be they are a part for an Australian army kit for the truck 1/4 ton (jeep) and carry a part number similar to a jeep number as a way of ID'ing them as jeep. A lot of the Australian army references to jeep part numbers follow the Ford system using GPW prefixes, not the Willys one which would have just been WO or WOA prefixed numbers which I think could be not as specific as GPW.

Having said that, they could be for lots of kits- recovery, welding, ambulance and many others. I will try to check my references for the number if I can get to them. If they are a part from a kit and not needed, I would be interested in them!

Cheers,
Ian.

I had a look in my parts lists for some of the jeep modification kits which were made by/for the army and they didnt ring up any familiar numbers (even with out the GPW or 5SS prefixes).

So, i am not sure at this stage sorry!

Ian.
