Default 10.50x16 Tyres

Bob and Sapper,
I've just received an E.Mail from Wallace Wade asking how many I require (although I told him 4). The E.Mail also says they are being made, although he did'nt say when they would be availiable. No problem with shipping to the UK, as they can be shipped airport to airport.. The cost of each tyre is $176, with the US $ exchange rate at just over $2.00 to the UK £, this looks like a good deal. I guess the next question is, does anyone else require any of this size tyre in the UK or Europe, and if so is it worth us getting a larger order up together, maybe a containers worth ?
Thoughts please
Keith
P.S. I shall be unavailiable for the next couple of weeks, as of the 18th August, but i will get back on to this when I return.

Keith

I'd like to register an interest for 5 for the LAA and I think Dave may well prize open his wallet for another 5 for the C30, like you I'm off line until the 28th of August

I would suggest that people with heavier vehicles check their axle loadings on these tyres because the difference between the unladened and ladened weight on my C15TA pushed them over their assumed limited.

Any attempted to suspend tow a heavy vehicle on these tyres would presumably cause a blow out.

It would be nice to know the frieght costs and I assume we would have to pay 17.5% VAT.

Default Latest news.....

....just got off the phone with Wallace Wade.

Was surprised that I could actually talked to the man....... he apologized for the dealys but admitted to some frustration in dealing with DOT government officials.

Apparently the tires ahve been tested and ceritified, as of June, and he was promised all the paperwork by August 1st 2007. Papers have not yet arrived and he is not allowed to ship or take delivery of his tires until the papers are finalized. He indicated that he had requested a sample to show off at a military show in July and his request was denied.

Price has not changed and is still $176 FOB Indiana, Penn.

NOTE**** the initial production run is for "ONLY" 150 tires... or 30 sets of five..... he has kept records of all written requests and will honor those first.

Keep you fingers crossed.

Bob C.

Default Limited run

It looks like there is ample demand to make another run. I had confirmed for seven not five as I have to skin the Quad Polsten as well. Hopefully they will be in before my next launch for Africa... conformed to Kenya on 26 Sep.

Default Greetings and computations.....

Just got off the "talafun" with Mr Wade.....

Tires should be rolling off the line by end of September....2007!!!

Wallace tells me first batch is all going to the UK.........NOT

....got your attention now.....

Good news.......The initial batch of 150 may be increased....

.... they are planning to make 150 over and above all the commitments to purchase that have been received.........so we have a safety margin and do not need to kell one another to make sure we get our tires.

Wallace tells me that he has maintained a comprehensive file of all requests and as soon as the McCreary plant is ready to ship he will be contacting buyers......

So save those empty bottles......

Plans in Ottawa is to have the tires shipped to a truck warehouse in upper NY and pick up and clear customs ourselves...

Rotters get your $$ ready...... will do our transaction via credit cards which is the preferred process for Wade.

Hang in there........... these tires have been as hard to get as tires during the second war with rubber restrictions.

Default Sniff, sniff, waaaahh!

I leave for Nairobi on 26 Sep... off to do my bit for Queen and Country, again.

I'll have to leave money with one of the Hammond bunch and pray they don't drink it all!

I get back on 25 November and will likely not mount the tyres until late spring as I'll be off to the dark continent again from 14 Feb to 7 Apr.

Any mention of the tubes and/or bead protectors (flaps)?

Boobee- thanks for shepherding this one for all of us, TWO thumbs up!

Mike

Default Trusting aren't you....

Leave us your credit card Mike and we will even get them mounted for you..... if the money holds out......

We are shopping around for 9x16 and 11x16 tubes and flaps from tractor dealers and Rural tire dealers....... will inquire on Wade if he can cut us a discount on 22..... shipping cost from Texas may negate any discount...... will do our best.

Stay tuned will work out something before you leave...

Default Chat with Wallace Wade

I spoke at length with "Wallace" today. He sounds like a very pleasant individual. Spoke at length about the 10.50 X 16 tires, where (he) found the molds ( in a suburb of Toronto in a warehouse) how the molds needed about a year to get the right quality for production. Also spoke of this area (Windsor) and Detroit. From the sounds of it he is still not positive that the production will meet the end of September deadline but that it would not be much later. Delivery from factory in Penn to Detroit arranged. Payment has been made now all that is left is for Santa to deliver.

Cheers

Default Heads up......

......tires are now on the verge of being released......

NOTE........ unexpected costs....price now $193.50 each US
....plus shipping of course......

Will be getting a quote on shipping bulk on skids...... shipping costs will be increased by the weight of the skids (50 pounds) loading by fork lift onto our trailer will be easier.

Warehouse we deal with will charge us $50 per skid to handle...
minimum charge $100 per shipment.

Wade ususally ships tires wrapped individually for small orders.... if we do that our warehouse will charge us $5.00 per tires for handling....( 22 tires x$5) and risk having our shipment loose a tire.......

Expect ot charge the total amount to my Credit card...ouch.... for later recovery from partners in crime....

...and the world continues to unfold........ with a few creases here and there.....!!

Not too bad at 135 EUR each, the 9.00-16 Trak Grip is offered for 79 GBP or 113 EUR plus shipping. Unless anyone lands a container load of those chvron tyres on this side of the pond, I'll go for the Simex Trak Grip. It's the correct size of the 15-cwt anyway.

Default Tires have arrived

Received 5 tires today...picked them up at the UPS box store in Detroit this evening....WHOOOOOOO they are big mamas.

Spoke with Chris in Texas and he indicated that all the orders have been shipped or are being shipped.

So.....not long to wait.

FYI I did not order flaps or tubes....just tires....

No problem bringing them across the border....just over 100.oo cdn for the tax man. Didn't have an invoice they just ask how much they cost and I gave a good estimate.

cheers

Default Tires underway.....

..... there coming.......

Should be at the warehouse next week..... will need help to drive down for the pick up.....may need to use a trailer. Tires are shipped as 22 individually wrapped tires....not on skids!!!!

Best estimate of cost per tires including flaps, taxes, shipping and handling......$260.10 per tire FOB the barn.......

Storing tires in the barn is extra.....hihihi

Mike.......... how do we handle your$$$$$!!!!!!
