Default Mystery reflectors

I am downsizing and editing.

I have five of these reflectors, of unknown make or usage

I am loathed to bin them as they are a manufactured item and can be restored.

Please, can anyone help me identify their usage or application please?

They seem commonwealth if I were to hedge my bets, maybe 1950s

Pressed thin steel with captured reflector within the centre.

Thats gotta be British. Who else would stick a coin size reflector into a sewer pipe size retainer. (theres one of those smileys that I hate, but I had to on this one).

Part of a police "stop" traffic wand?

A guess... never seen one of those, not even on a British vehicle.

I think I remember seeing these, in the UK, attached to wooden posts on the roadside to indicate that the verge dropped away sharply or there was a very deep ditch. The posts were painted in black and white stripes and made of timber with a section of about 6" wide by 2"" thick.
If I'm right, these would have been used in the 1930s and 1940s on narrow country lanes. A few would still have been visible in the 1950s.

Blimey John, I knew you were old but man you do well for your age mate if you recall them from that long ago!

But thank you for the lead
