Good news Rob, another Iltis will live on. The body and mechanicals of this vehicle are all being re-built this winter. This Iltis comes here every winter for storage, we like too keep them together. This Iltis and mine are registration numbers XXX78 and XXX79. Both came out of ASU London in the tender sales. Enjoy!

Wouldn't be the first time, although unusual for all four to go at the same time.

Maybe you guys don't recognize a rotisserie. What you do is take the body off the chassis and mount it on a frame that rotates the body 360 degrees. Really works nice to cut out and replace metal.

Hi Gordon
See you got it all mounted on the rotisserie, how many bags of charcoal? What do you use for sauce? But kidding aside good photo, I'm looking at getting a rotisserie for a couple of projects any recommendations? The tension bridge on the under side of the mounting bracket is something new to me. Cheers Phil

Phil
I have seen rotisseries made out of the inexpensive engine stands like the ones available from Harbor Freight. One I looked at was for a jeep tub the guy was doing and he simply used a piece of pipe to join one engine stand to the other with a couple extra holes drilled into the "T" leg to allow for a nut and bolt on each one to hold it all together. He did however extend the lengths of the cross tube for better balance.

Lots of photos and plans available on the web..... various models from cheap to oversize....... easy to copy and do on your own.
I have been accumulating steel tubing and plans on using a 60:1 reducion gear box which will make it easy to rotate with the impact wrench and the screw gear ratio acts as a brake. My plans are for trailer hitch 1/4 wall tubing 2 " OD and 2" ID 1/4 in. tubing for sliding purposes. I will incorporate ideas from multiple models. I will need it for the repro of the cargo box. Cheers
