Default Dodge WC 21 in Australia

Hi All,

Not in a great hurry but I am looking around for a Dodge WC21 here in Australia.

Asbestos prohibition rules have made importation of such a truck almost impossible as it has to have be certified free from asbestos to go through customs without being dismantled at exorbitant fees and holding charges by Border Protection.

Any leads would be great (and no, I'm not afraid to travel).

Cheers,

Ian

That has to be a bit of a joke in a country where the stuff naturally occurs in abundance.
Where abouts in those Dodges is the asbestos, apart from the brake linings?
(which must apply to any older vehicle)

That is just plain silly. No naturally occurring asbestos where you are and therefore the need to protect against some latent material that just might be imported? My, how those import customs people keep you safe.

CMP's would be subject to the same rules I assume? They do have asbestos. And radium. And lead paint. And rust.

Just wondering, if imported Dodges just might have asbestos, wouldn't those already there have it too?

Its no Joke.
Exhaust gasket, head gasket, brakes, handbrake. Its no joke at all. Border protection has gone stupid over it.
you may not think its relevant, Look here https://www.tradeuniquecars.com.au/n...-for-importers

If you wish to discuss Asbestos and prohibition of importation, please don't hijack this thread. Thanks in advance.

But my focus is a WC 21 in Australia.

Cheers,

Default Dodge

Most of the WC21's are to be found in Queensland where they were sold by the disposals people, a few more have turned up down in the Southern states but QLD is the place.

The AWM collection has pics of rows of WC21's lined up at the Mt. Gravatt vehicle park. The ARN range is around 129xxx from memory .

I've had a few of them , one was a ex tow truck, still LHD found at Creswick Vic. I passed on all of my Dodge stuff to a VMVC member years ago. I had another one with the ARN number on the tailgate 129166 ? could be wrong its been along time.

The Creswick Dodge was flat towed home by the Growse No.9 Chev gun tractor .
