Ah, first you make us drool . . . and then you make us cry by telling us they have all been scrapped by now?!?!
Some rare trucks there, the late "straight back" FAT and F60T plus trailer. Thanks for sharing the pictures! Hanno

But what's really unusual...
Is to see so many uncut, unmodified vehicles - original bodies, and as Hanno points out some rare ones there too. Those FATs are amazing, as are the F15/F15As.
Very sad to see that 15cwt body being choked with the cable. So what's the count? Looks like at least 3 of the late pattern FGTs, one earlier one, 3 or 4 15cwts, F60T and trailer, GMCs, Mog, Dodge ambulance, Half track... so please... tell us their fate...

Hence the Andrew Lloyd Webber song -
'Don't cry for me Argentina, The truth is I never sold you, All through those scrapyards loose rusty bitses, Don't touch that half-track, Don't crush my blitzes...'

For a moment I thought that the Hammond boys would set a new recovery record for distance travelled.

Clive,
Rumour has it the esteemed ring leaders of the Hammond Barn are at this minute plotting through a haze of seasonal mosquitos as to how to turn the recovery into an Official CF recovery operation. My inside source has it on good authority that an HLVW wrecker is being modified for air transport in a C130 by fitting K car wheels and tyres and removing the cab and that all flights will be signed off by the Wing Training Officer (Captain Loaddroper-Redlighton) as legitimate long distance training flights. Flights coming back from Afghanistan that would have been otherwise empty will now have a realistic load. It is furthermore understood that the name to this circus has been "Exercise Kimco" and planning was started 01/04/11 (D/M/Y) Whether my sources are kosher remains to be seen Robin |

Hmm
Reminds me of that yard in Portugal where those lovely cab 13 FATS were eventually scrapped
Often with these yards, the owners can only see $$$$ and have nil interest in history or preserving anything . Mike

Fellows
Images are sad, for us the Argentines, who want and appreciate these vehicles, but owners of these vehicles, is a family that bought vehicles at auctions of government for more than half a century. And ask a lot of money for these vehicles in the state found. Some comments from people who are in this hobby, said that most of these vehicles, arrived at this place, in operation. Keith received years ago some pictures of FAT in Argentina. Cheers

Photos taken two years ago, have you been back and are there any vehicles left, or maybe you can advise if there are any other similar yards in your neighbourhood. When I saw the fantastic photos I was like a kid in a lolly shop. Boy if that was in Australia there would be some border raids in planning as we speak. Sad to see history going down the drain. Cheers Tony

Mariano,
Thanks for posting these. Let's hope these rare trucks get saved soon....in a few years there is not much to save I am afraid. I have recently seen some pics of a yard in the UK and the trucks there were hardly recognizable after all these years in the open air. No remains of any Crusader gun tractors in the yard? Alex

Sad to see it is the same everywhere! I still remember finding my first CMP in a scrapyard in Holland. It was in a terrible state and incomplete, but the owner wanted much, much more than scrap value. Therefore it stood there untouched till the day it was scrapped, and both the scrapyard owner and the collectors lost Thanks for sharing the pictures, at least something will remain of these vehicles.
