Default Ottawa Airshow, Carp, Ontario, 27-29 June 2008

G'Day all:

Last night we had the initial coord meeting to sort out HMV and re-enactor/living history group participation in the Ottawa Airshow. It looks to be a great show and a lot of fun so come on down!

The dates for the public are Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June 2008 from 0900 to 1600 daily. More info is available at: http://www.airshowottawa.com/show.nsf

Historic military vehicle owners and re-enactors/living history group members are all welcome: set up day is Friday, 27 June and you are asked to coordinate your participation with one of the following:

OMVA and independant vehicle owners- Jeff Mosher
magnum-jmSPAM@sympatico.ca

MAMH and independant re-enactors- Morley Verdier
verdimSPAM@sen.parl.gc.ca OR Gene Michaud
eugene.michaudSPAM@sympatico.ca

Swords and Ploughshares Museum volunteers (and anyone who would like to volunteer with us)- Graeme Milne-
graeme.milneSPAM@rogers.com

Graeme has volunteered to coordinate the S&P activities as I will be on duty in Africa again until shortly before the show, nonetheless, feel free to contact me majmikecalnanSPAM@hotmail.com if you have any questions.

If you want to bring your airplane contact Barry Camm
bdcecSPAM@rogers.com

NOTE: remove the "SPAM" from each address before using them.

This year we are introducing an arena for vehicle and special exhibit display much like our brethren in Albion do! We are looking for a knowledgeable and bilingual announcer to tell the public whats going on in the arena, any budding Lorne Green's out there?

As in the past the organisers are donating a keg of "foam" for the Saturday night moon howl and breakfast as well as lunch will be provided to exhibitors. Camping is available and encouraged!

Hope to see you there!

Mike

Whoa, Hoss..... what's this "bilingual" shite?? Aeroplanes and olde truckes only understand English... and this IS "Canada" after all! We won it fair & square in 1759...

Default Bilingual events!

Yup. lookin' fer sum buddy whoo cud speek English and 'Merkan for our cousins down south!

Seriously; a lot of the Ottawa collectors and re-enactors are from both sides of the big river so we parlez the ding dong without even thinking about it. Besides, we are getting some federal support on this one and they like that multi-multi stuff!

Are ya gonna make it for this one? Free foam! Aaand, the West End Gracie's girls don't recognise your libidinous grin, yet! There's a Canada Day Convoy right afterwards! See my next post!

Sorry about the double tap... when you try to edit through this damn firewall it all jams up!

Mike

Default Update

G'day all:

A quick update on the Ottawa Airshow: interest continues to build and we now have confirmation on a pile of trucks and artillery from the S&P, a number of vehicles from the OMVA and a bunch of re-enacters from various organisations including the MAMH.

The S&P will be sending two convoys to get all the kit there, one on Thu, 26 June and the second on Fri, 27 June. If you are interested in helping to laod or drive vehicles for us drop me an email or give me a call: (613) 302-take this anti-spam out 6465.

This is an all eras event so don't be shy; come on down!

Cheers! Mike

Bonjour Monsieur l'artilleriste

If you are still lokoing for a bilingual announcer give me a shout. I may only be available evenings and weekend.

My M38A1 is not yet roadworthy but I will try to get it there.

Default Announcer

Hi Clive:

You dulcet tones would be perfect as the announcer for the various vehicle events... especially if you were togged out as a War Correspondent (Italy campaign look is OK if its hot out!)

I'm working on the description cards for our stuff now and I'll get the word out that folks should prepare some basic data for you regarding their pride and joy.

We are hoping to arrange a series of arena events as done in the UK to fill the dead times between aeroplane flying. There is also talk of a mock battle fo some sort but I have not been able to get the re-enactors together for a chat to coord such an event.

I have beer in the fridge, hamburgers in the freezer and gas in the barbie (I've suggested Rolaids but nothing works!) if you want to come out and chat this weekend or we could get together at your local on Baseline road.

Mike
