Default Transfer case

I have my Transfer case out and all cleaned and primed Question is what colour is a Chev transfer case, Green or Black?
Also Ordered the 1 3/8 wheel cylinders but cant find a part number for the 1 1/2, would anyone have this? I checked the parts pagers on here but cant find em just the rebuild kits.
Jason

Default Colour

Official shots that I have of the underneath of Chevy CMPs and also of transfer cases shows that they were all the same colour when new. So, wasn't that a grey/gray?

For colour I theorize that they arrived at production as raw castings, were assembled and mounted to the trucks and the whole painted, but it is theory. I haven't stripped a transfer case with enough care to know if they had multiple coats of paint and in what order. All transfer cases I've received have been the same colour outside - rust.
For the 1-1/2 wheel cylinders, I think this is it but CHECK IT CAREFULLY BECAUSE I'M WORKING FROM MEMORY. Please be sure to check the Raybestos number from Rockauto against other posts and the 91t-2261 from Mac's is a familiar number but it should be checked against your parts books because Ive been looking at quite a few different CMP parts lists lately and might be confused.

This is what the undercarriage looked like when new.

Default My Observation Same as body

Hi Jason

On all three of my CMPs the transfer case as well as all of the chassis with minor exceptions were painted the same basic color as the body, though I can not say if it is a perfect match because of the years of being coated with oil.

Only major drive train component that was a different color was the engine.

Cheers Phil

Default The only stupid questions are the ones you don't ask

Hi Jason

CMPs are enough of a puzzle to begin with, and when you get one as loose part you it qualifies as a Giant Jigsaw Puzzle.

Can't remember who said it but "The only stupid questions are the ones you don't ask" is correct so ask away.

I wish the MLU Forum had been around when I did my first CMP I was sending letters all over the world to ask complete strangers questions and the letters I received back often within days from the other side of the world still amazes me.

Cheers Phil
