ID Request
Is anyone able to positively identify the set pictured in the attached image, please? It is mounted on an angle-steel platform in the back of a jeep. The chap closest to the camera appears to have RAAF rank insignia, and the angle steel stanchion attached to the side of the jeep holds a substantial aerial. Any ideas, please?
Thanks Mike |

Scr 522 ?
Could be a SCR 522 set. Used in many fighter aircraft and some Air Force ground stations . A common VHF 4 channel AM set . I had one at one time.

I agree with Mike. The box with all the cables looks to be a T17B junction box used with the SCR522/TR1143.

Thanks
Thank you Mike & Bruce, I shall hunt up a few images of that set to see what the whole thing looks like. Seems to be a pretty heafty load for a jeep.

See http://tuberadio.com/scr522/scr522.htm There was a control unit (No.13) for the WS19 that connected to a TR1143 for Air Support use, usually fitted in a 3/4 ton wireless truck but demountable for use as a fixed station if required. Chris. |
