Are there any suitable replacments for head and intake manifold gaskets?
Can't put used gaskets back on an engine Can you point me in the right direction? Keep in mind that we are based in Petawawa in the Ottawa valley....I'm not about to go to Holland to get a set....sorry Hanno! Regards

Bumper to Bumper
...and other car parts stores should be able to get you gaskets for a flathead eight. There are thousands still in use in non military vehicles.

Gaskets
Felpro make gaskets for the sidevalve V8. Head gaskets (2 req'd): P/N 7548, Intake manifold gasket P/N LB 2853, or it might just be easier to buy a complete set of engine gaskets: part number FS 7548 B.
Victor also make gaskets for this engine and so do Monotorque. Felpro is probably the most widely available and if your local parts store can't order it in, there plenty of Flathead Ford parts suppliers who do mail order. For other up to date parts numbers, see modern CMP part numbers |

I got my complete engine rebuild set (victor pn FS1026K) off ebay for $50 US, but if a guy was in a hurry he could certainly order them at a parts store. If your carrier has an origional engine, it will be the 85 hp 220 cu in engine, which the civilians consider in production from 1937-40. If someone has replaced the engine post service, you may have a 95 hp truck engine of 239 cu in.
If you aren't in a hurry, just enter "ford flathead" on ebay search and see what comes up. |
