Default Ford V8 exhaust manifold, RHS

Who can help me with a RHS exhaust manifold for my Ford V8 truck?

Tobin will remember the slight blowby last September when he drove it. I have driven it since I and it was slowly getting worse, so I went looking for a blown gasket when I found this crack - see picture.

Addition: it is a 24-stud 95-hp engine.

Part no is 9430 R.H.

Hanno, the 9430 is the Ford base number for an exhaust manifold (one side or the other) the other is 9431. To get your particular type of manifold you need the prefix like: 8CM -9430 and this may be followed by a suffix for example "-B" etc.

Lynn,

Thanks, of course: just checked the parts list and it's number is 78-9430 for the right hand side exhaust manifold, the one I need.

Here are some pictures I found of the "1937 - 1941 V8 Ford Exhaust Manifold 78-9430 Right - Fits passenger car and pick up. 1937, 1938, 1939, 1940, 1941"

Please note the outlet studs are in line with centerline of engine.

Hanno,

This company in California lists several of these manifolds available; http://www.reds-vintage-parts.com/ou...d-ford-exhaust

Jack, thanks - that is where I found the pictures I posted above when googling for 78-9430

Sadly California is too far away for my needs - I will explore the more local leads I have now.

Thanks,
Hanno

Hanno, If the ones in the photo are correct, then as I recall, Joblot (USA) has one side, as NOS for $45.00. Might be worth the freight if it is the correct side.

Lynn,

Took a while to find http://www.joblotauto.com. Interesting company, I did not know them. They list the 18-9430 version of the exhaust manifold, not the correct one for me.

But thanks!

Looks like it indeed, thanks John.

Have found a couple of local leads which I am going to pursue before going overseas.

Thanks,
Hanno

The 18-9430 is the old manifold from the 21 stud engines, but are important to us because they are also the manifolds used on the 221 85 horse engine used on Canadian Bren gun carriers. I am in need of a pair of these (left and right) for a project I am doing for 2PPCLI.

Sorry Hanno, I put you crook there. Of course I knew about them because of carriers, as Rob points out.

It's the bottom one isn't it Hanno.
Of note is that this is a pair of manifolds (Mercury) that fit an LP2 /2a Carrier.

Well, then Lynn put you on the right track! The joblotauto offer sounds like a great deal.

No worries Lynn, seems another flathead will benefit from it.

Ben, looks like the right type.

Thanks for the reply, but I have found two KTR club members here in Holland who are most likely able to help out. I will let you know if none of the options they have work out fine.

Old one on the bottom was well and truly cracked - in two places. Will save it in case someone can reweld it?

Replacement manifold is on the top, resurfaced, helicoiled plus two new studs fitted.

Excellent Hanno. I had the same problem with the Ford Lynx manifold and MLU came to the for through Tony Wheeler within days of putting the request out there. Thanks MLU.

Regards Rick.
